The game doesn't kick you out. It's Apple doing that. They have very aggressive memory management and such in their browsers. Their browsers in MacOS and iOS reload the page forcibly. On reload of the browser tab, you're "kicked out".
What we're doing to prevent this is make the performance of the game a little better in each version. This should lead to less forced reloads in Apple browsers.
We're also working on a way to reload the page without losing the 'connection' to the game. That has to be done in a secure way so it's not as easy as it sounds. Also, you'd still experience reloads in that scenario giving you a disadvantage in the game. So performance improvements are the most important.
The post of 7 months ago shows Apple devices that currently no longer have this problem or a lot less, if I'm correct. It is currently down to the more lower end or older devices.
The best way to go now is probably to close as many apps in the background as possible while playing Openfront.
Next to manually closing as many apps as possible in the background, these are some other tips in an Apple device:
"The only way to play on iPhone without it overheating and crashing every 5 seconds is to go to safari > share > add to homepage. This gives you a bare bones browser version. Turn off animations and pit your phone on battery saver mode. You will still crash sometimes if you overheat but keep the phone cool and you should be good. I crash every 1/4 games :/"
