Many people don't seem to know there is such option. They sit back relaxing at the back and wait for their turn to die. It could help to show a "donate troops" button was shown at all times in the user menu (e.g. close to the attack percentage). It should also show some sort of explanation / inform than a selected player could be donated using the context menu.
The button could work in a couple ways - giving troops to someone with least troops / splitting troops to all allies who are being attacked / splitting troops to all allies who are fighting, etc.
