In quantum physics — more specifically, in quantum field theory — there exists the concept of force carriers, or interaction-mediating particles. These particles (such as photons or gluons) are fundamental in the Standard Model of particle physics and are responsible for transferring forces between matter particles.
I believe this principle could be meaningfully implemented in the game as well.
Currently, most game mechanics have a clear physical counterpart:
Trades occur when ships arrive at ports
Nuclear warheads require delivery systems
Ships engage in direct combat
However, the process of capturing territory — a core gameplay element — happens in a somewhat abstract or "magical" way, without any actual unit involvement.
To address this, I strongly suggest introducing dedicated units responsible for capturing and holding territory. Territory control would then depend solely on these units' presence and positioning.
In my imagination, there are hundreds of dots on both sides of a static front line, each one firing tiny dots at the enemy — fighting their little war for your entertainment. This mental image captures the kind of dynamic, visible frontline conflict that I believe could bring the game to life.
Adding such a system would:
Introduce a new strategic and tactical dimension
Enable static or shifting frontlines, akin to real-world military logistics
Open the door for features like unit mobilization, reserves, and territorial defense
Overall, I believe this would significantly enhance the depth, immersion, and replayability of the game.
