I don't think the devs want to add new maps now
South America and Asia don't have a map ig yet

It would obscure borders, buildings, navy (airforce in future?) wherever it happened to be at a time. No special code, just a visual effect to distract the player.

Tough to find a good netherlands map that don't have clouds and does not have border drawings + labels.
