Seeing as it is supposedly a Linux native game, I was facing issue where the game just would not launch, at all. Launch -> Stop -> Launch was the buttons lifespan in under twenty seconds.
I tried verifying files, change permissions to full read/write/modify and even the owner of the game directory, and its content, and this had landed me nowhere.
Also, trying to launch the linux executable kept throwing "Unable to execute ./WreckRunners.sh: Permission denied" in terminal, and in logs as well.
- Logs indicate attempts to load & not finding -> ignore :
-
- libvulkan_intel.so | libvulkan_intel_hasvk.so | libvulkan_radeon.so | libvulkan_nouveau.so | libvulkan_lvp.so
-
- Also this gem: Could not find "libdisplay-info.so.2" in LD_LIBRARY_PATH "
The Solution
To save a headache, install the game into same storage as to where your Steam Linux Runtimes are at.
- By quick test I got to main menu on the Linux Native client. Dude has gotta sleep sometime, might as well now.
- Easier management of moving the game / runtimes is if you open Settings -> Storage.
Before Figuring the solution
Earlier, before finding out the clarification to as to How you get into the playtest. I did get the game to launch with GE-Proton10-34 Compatibility.
- This results to downloading Windows oriented client, thus flat-out moving away from the Native check mark for the installation.
- I did not get to try the game at that point because the lack of how playtest approval is set up, which I admittedly dislike in many regards but it is what it is..
