Somewhat disagree with the metrics. I agree BC and Destroyers are not noticeable once on the battlefield. Destroyers feel like a big frigate.

They should have longer range (Battle cruisers use Ion turrets only in very short range) and be tankier than now (Destroyers feel really weak, like a frigate).

However the speed at which they kill frigates shouldn't be changed much.

The big issue with the game is TTK of Fighters and Corvettes. Every thing kills them nearly instantly. Fighters should be a counter to BC and Destroyers as they are fast moving targets for their big guns, but they can be killed easily by these behemoths. Right now, the only thing strong enough to counter BC and Destroyers are frigates swarms or the equivalent unit. Reducing TTK on frigates without bringing a proper counter in would break the game, IMHO.

I agree with you on the main point though, BC feel very underwhelming, same for destroyers. Damage boost may very well be required on the ships, but then they should be more focused to anti capital ships instead of being jack of all trade (which, I think, is why their damage is so low). The fact that they can kill fighters is a problem in the Rock Paper Scissor balance and, currently/given that reality, justifies (partly) why they would do less damage to frigates.

Personally, I'd rather see Corvettes and Fighters being useful late game to focus fire big, slow targets.

Draw in corvettes, fighters and frigates to your main battle forces.
Slow moving units like destroyers and BC trail behind,
Use tunnels, nebulas and wreck plates to "sneak" past the ongoing fight
swarm the bigger ships, forcing the enemy to split forces or get significantly damaged BC/destroyers in the fight.

THAT would make sense, and then I'd be 100% onboard with your idea of firepower from these ships.
This is what I expected when BBI told us they where using cover and megalith in gameplay. Sadly this is not what we received.

Without all the metrics and things, important yes, I just want to say that I'd like to see larger ships firing more or doing more to impact the battle.

Look at the mothership turrets, those rock. More of that 'type' of thing on bigger ships.

Thats why SC should be put in squads.

I can only say about the campaign, where destroyers are useless for the player and unkillable nightmares in the hands of the AI. In mission 12, I fought 2 destroyers with 8 of my own and 8 healers to help, and lost 2 DDs before I could kill the enemy. This was regular occurence, the only reason to build the DDs at all was to use them as bullet sponge when the enemy send their infini waves at you. I mean, the same 8 DDs using focus fire and missile volley could not kill 8 enemy capture corvettes (4 lived) which is kind of sad.
