It depends on your distro, but in general SteamOS has a setup script and It Just Works™ on Fedora.

You may need to change a configuration to trick the game into thinking you're running from a different device - check out this thread, and specifically this guide:

Which distro are you using makes recommendations easier. I use Bazzite (Fedora), and you just need to change its properties so it detects it as a compatible device.
