So I had two problems with this specific shop. Initially it didn't let me buy death after I bought the voucher even though I had enough money for both. Went to the main menu, fixed itself. Then after I did that again this was what I was met with.

Starting the next round looks like this, for more context I should have exactly zero dollars, I didn't even get cents in any round
Both going to the main menu, nor closing the game fixed it will probably keep playing it for now but if it gets worse will just kill the run
