Killing all the Sergeants only got me 3 Ancient Foothills Keys and it requires 5 to open the two chests and ancient door where the final chest is. Now I have to wait 12 hours for everything to respawn.

It's possible the keys are laying on the ground hidden in some brush. I received 10 extras i can bring them to you if you wish.
Every Sergeant should have dropped one.
