I keep getting an error and my local dedicated server will not start up, the error just loops over and over again after last update. I have done a fresh install of the game and server while backing up saved files and the error persist.;

is it a vanila windows dedicated server?
Yes, it is a vanilla windows dedicated server that I run on a separate machine. We had no issues with the server running on May 3rd 2026. After I took it down May 4th for updates, it has since had this error that just repeats. I have uninstalled, deleted local files, reinstalled, brought in old saves and still the error
can yo usend me your world folder from the dedicated server please?
it looks like your world save got corrupted, can you send me the entire Saved folder please
has there ver been default_backups folder here?
I managed to reproduce your situation on my PC so I've sent it for further investigation
try ysing this world it worked for me with no issues
just a reminder where worlds live now
Should I remove all other instances or unzip and place this one in that folder
Same error
can you send me screenshot of the folder please?
and inside this world folder?
there shuld be an archive inside this world folder, you don't nend to unzip the one that is inside (in case I misguided you :))
Yes, I only unzipped the file you sent, place it in the v2backups\worlds and still get this error
can you send me the serverdescription.json screenshot please?
are you launching the dedicated server from steam client?
No, I use the foreground launcher
can you try to launch from steam? if possible?
shuldnt make any difference.... tbh... but you never know
Of course, launched from dedicated steam launcher and same error
do you see the problem looping in the server's console?
Yup, it loads this error over and over after a few minutes at each attempt

[D:\Source\Build\work\gameRepoCheckoutDir\Plugins\R5BusinessLogicCore\Source\R5BLCommon\Cpp\R5DataAbstractionLayer\R5BLDalAsyncQueue.cpp:1252]
it looks like you are launching dedicated server from within the game's folder:
D:/Steam/steamapps/common/Windrose/R5/Builds/WindowsServer/R5/
not the native dedicated server instalation path...can you try launching from the original sedicated server instalation path?

Same error from the dedicated server path
did u put the world to the new dedicated server folder?
and please sahre the full log with me
Yes, the unzipped download folder into the v2backup world path
Here is the new log from the dedicated server path with the world file in the v2backups path
can you try deleting whatever you have in the RocksDB folder? and try to launch it again
Deleted the contents and the same error
please send me the log again
while i'm on it, can you try installing the dedicated server on your other machine (the one you play from), put the save in there and try to connect to it?
Sounds good, will do right now\
the confusing part is that according to the log everything shuld be fine, the eeror says that it takes longer time to create backup... but It was still successful, have you tried connecting to the server in it's current state?
I have the dedicated server running on my gaming computer and it doesn't have the error, however I am trying to connect to the server and it's just stuck on the in game loading screen
That's also what I thought, it looked like everything was still fine even if it was taking a while, but my other players and I couldn't see the server last night in the game
can you send me your SaveProfilefolder from your gaming PC please?
From the dedicated path or game path
game path, ill try to connect to that server with your save
What is the path to that folder? I;m only finding the R5 server Saved path in the game folders
That's strange, its asking me what I want to use to open it versus giving me the explorer option
I found it manually in my appdata
Should I just nuke my server PC? Uninstall the game/server, wipe folders, and start from scratch??
Using the save back file from this chat?
the question now why you were not able to connect to the dedicated server on your gaming PC
your save is fine, both world and cahracter everything is good
can you try one more time and send me the client log after you were not able to join please?
From my gaming PC or server PC?
gaming PC client - gaming PC server
need to understand why thios is happening
Understood, Server is running on gaming PC, and still trying to load into the server. Loading page is going
Still in the in game loading screen
is your game installed on HDD or SSD?
SSD, I don't have any HDDs installed in any of my machines
okay if it didn't load by now can you send me the log please?
also can you try to create a Host game and see if it works for you?
Yes, I can host and run a game
can you make sure that you placed the save file to the dedicated server correctly? and changed the serverdescription .json?
because it looks liek the game is tryign to load you a world with a differnt ID, not the one from teh save
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Windrose Dedicated Server\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles\Default\RocksDB_v2_Backups\Worlds
shuld be here
Yes, I have placed the save file in the correct location.
I have the dedicated server PC running now and I am able to join, but no matter the corrections I make to the .json file it makes a new world save
can you send me saveprofiles folder from the dedicated server please?
I have a world file corruption too where when I craft the game crashes, I have tried my character on another server and I can craft so I know it’s my world that is the problem. Does this file fix it?
not the world, the entire save profiles folder
try removing mods please
I don’t have any mods
please create a separate thread sir
and describe in details how you've got to this situation what is the problem
Ok
Can you create an empty RocksDB folder in Default folder, so it looks like this:
check serverdescription and try again
Made the folder, checked and corrected the WorldID in the serverdescription, ran the server, loads, creates a new world and changes the WorldID
I can actually make the correction in the .json load the server, check the .json again and its changed to a new world ID
it looks like you have your world archive too deep there are two folders wit hthe same name
Okay, i'll try and move the sub folder
Its correct now, hopefully it was just a corrupt save from the beginning that lead to the leak issues and now the addition sub path?
The point is, its working now
Im still getting the

But as you said, its working regardless of taking a little more time
hurray! sorry it took so long.
yes, it looks like for some reason the migration didn't fully complete on teh first launch, and then I was just super slow understanding where the issue was and got off track several times
No sorry needed, I appreciate the time and dedication to getting it resolved regardless
(and I would recommend to check your disc on that PC that you use for the dedicated server, if it's an SSD it shouldn't trigger that warning)
