This is a known issue and they are working on solutions. Are you having this issue before the main menu or connecting to a server/friend's game?

Your save is corrupted then. Sorry was trying to locate where the Dev said this earlier today but too many new threads.
You can head to id:customize get your Role choose Mods or whatever to up #1491867519395299508 In there you will find software to help recover your character.
Could also head to #1298583059402063926 in there look for how to rollback to your Backup file.
Turn off Steam Cloud until further notice.
