#stuck on loading... screen
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
im getting the same problem, my guess is some accumulating error problem.. im no dev tho
didn't work. thank you though.
Did you follow the directions one by one
And access the beta using the code from the end?
And then did you run it using public test?
I am having the same experience. I tried offline mode, host local server, and attempted to run 3 different cloud based servers with new worlds and same to test. I was stuck on loading them immediately back to man menu with no error codes
Did you try this?
#│public-test-instructions
You go into it
It deletes corrupt data
Then you go back to live version
I have not, I am going to try that now to see if it will work.
lmk if it works for you. didn't work for me or the few other people i'm trying to play with
good luck i'm burnt out on trying to make this work. hopefully the devs address this soon and acknowledge theres an issue and don't expect everyone to spend their weekend trying to patch the game for them
well right now its telling me it failed to load my character profile. my laptop is saying out of cloud sync ....... and i feel you man, i stayed up untill 5am last night trying to figure out what happened. I was in the process of moving my nitrado server over to my home server and ever since this seemed to happen lol
oh snap that's a bummer. the absolute state of online gaming in 2026. peace man gl!
Did you do this to a T?
Legit u gotta follow every single instruction and step
The code for the beta that you put in your properties for the game on steam is at the bottom of that post
yes, but im currently having trouble getting my character to load in. it defualted me to crete a new player and i did the tutorital to test it. its working other than my save character..
I am able to play offline, host game in public test mode. I am not able to connect to my rented game server either access code or direct IP.
did you follow the instructions?
Yes
did you get the option to delete files before the game ran when you booted up publictest?
no. i delted the files when i switched back to the normal version....currently on nomral version it will not even load into the main menue
@past shoal i got this prompt. Proceed with deletion? this is public test branch
Make sure you backup that save folder first and put it somewhere safe.. but, yes.. but it didn't work for me however I was at last able to load all of my characters and saves but only in the public test version/switching back to live, I return to the same issue of endless loading screen..
i was able to use 2-3 backups back to recover my second to last save--- to get to backups go to search bar type %appdata% then at top where it shows folders go back one folder to get to appdata then go into local > R5 > saved > saveprofiles copy and save this folder somewhere and delete the whole folder from appdata, launch game and create a new character and load into a world to generate a new folder> now go to the saveprofiles folder you saved and find the file thats name ends with backups (there should be several try get the one thats contents was edited second to most recently), copy the whole lot from inside one of these backups (the 0.10.0 folder and the account description txt folder) then go to the appdata>local > R5 > saved > saveprofiles go to the folder that has just numbers (your steam id) and delete the 0.10.0 and acc desription txt file from inside and paste the backup one in, you can try launch if it doesnt load go back repeat steps with 1 more backup file back (to find out what file is mopst recent you can right click and see when was edited last, the most recent one will be corrupt but 2-3 back should work), continue untill loads (you will lose few hrs of progress but better than nothing)
This is what I did to resolve the issue when it cropped up for me today.
I had a few characters and I ended up deleting my first character just to clean things up and I guess maybe that played into the issue with the steam cloud saves, so this is what I eventually figured out that fixed it for me - I was stuck at loading screen (map) and it would never get to the character screen.
Hopefully I remember most of the steps but I think it gets the general idea across. Since I had multiple characters I wanted to keep I had to do some figuring out which folder was for which character - roughly points 6 and 7 below so you can probably skip or modify those if you only have one character.
-
Go into Windrose in Steam and disable cloud saves for it in the properties.
-
Go to "C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles%your_Steam_ID%" and backup that folder somewhere for safe keeping - that is where you will copy back your characters that you want to restore.
-
In folder "C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles%your_Steam_ID%\RocksDB\0.10.0\Players" delete the folders in there - each folder is one of your characters (if you have multiple) - ensure you have the backup above before doing this.
-
With cloud saves off and the local characters deleted, I was able to launch Windrose with no issues - it forces you to create a local character since you have none.
-
If you check with the new character created, all your worlds still exist. Exit Windrose.
-
This is where I copied in one player folder at a time from my backup to determine which long folder name was each character - I couldn't determine which was which by reading through the files in each folder. Simply launch Windrose to see which characters are in the list.
-
Once you have confirmed all your characters look good in Windrose when running it, you can clean up the mandatory character you had to create on first launch - just make sure you have selected your main character on the character select screen.
-
So Windrose "Players" folder above (step 3) now has the characters you want - here is the final piece that fixed it for me.
-
Ensure Steam Cloud Saves is off (would have been off for all the testing above), launch Windrose. When you get to the character screen with your character there, Alt tab out of Windrose back into Windows and open up Steam. Go to Windrose in Steam and turn Cloud Saves back on while Windrose is running. Bring Windrose back into focus and quit the game.
-
I was doing a lot of back and forth at this point so this part is a bit fuzzy but when I relaunched Windrose, it stated there was a steam cloud save conflict and it asked me to pick the Steam cloud save or local save to keep. I picked local save which caused the Steam Cloud save to be overwritten and upload the local saved characters.
That is what I did to fix the issue - essentially I had to force the steam cloud save to upload my local save by causing the conflict - their was something wrong in the steam cloud save.
^i did similar but this man has way better grammer 🙂
Thank you @lilac fog your instructions worked a treat. I was able to recover my main character....one of my alts is corrupted though after restoring each character one caused the original freezing issue, so just left that one out.
Just almost got stuck with this in multiplayer with my Husband
My drivers needed updating, I uninstalled and reinstalled, he reloaded the game, and that fixed it
Leaving this here incase it helps anyone
we both did have an update to do, but it still did not fix him being able to join me again.
