We just got the Betheren of the coast quest line (Find the survivors) but we have found that island prior to finding the Bretheren's island to get the questline and we killed/looted everything.
So now there is no option to complete the "Find the survivors" part of the questline as it cannot be completed twice and doesn't register that we did it.
I suspect this may also be true of any questline that a POI is encountered and completed before the questline is received.

We have the examine area. It's a skeleton right beside the beached ship. No other areas like it on the Island. The progress indicator shows a check mark so we found it. But because we did it before we got the questline, it's now dead. The island is so small you could run around it at least twice and not run out of stam.
