Dropped items near a trader cannot be picked up

Not sure if a bug or just an annoying quirk.

Had a full inventory, so I dropped some Silver Spoons to make space for Piastre - figured I'd just pick them up afterwards, no big deal.

Sold some items, and when I turned around to pick up what I'd dropped I couldn't pick them up due to their proximity to the nearby Provisioner.

Tried a few different elevations nearby, slowly moving towards it to see if I can pick them up from a distance. Left the Smugglers cave and came back inside. No joy.

I had this happen too make a new character join same world and he will auto pick it up or have someone join and do the same

I'll try it out.

Though, I do still feel like this can be avoided with perhaps area pick-up (e.g. Hold E to loot items within X radius) or something similar.
