If you were to get this weapon at a low level before you even beat the first boss, you would have a very difficult time upgrading it as the need for mats even from level 1-2 requires materials that only unlock in the third biome . even if you find someone willing to let you hop on there server for the recipe you will find that other weapons that can be upgraded earlier will do better until you get to the third biome(around level 11 ish
