At what point devs will acknowledge downloads as a metric of fun, as a metric of it being mandatory thing in game?

30000 downloads on a mod is enough for developer to understand that whatever mod has, is seriously important to that many people?

nexus mods is probably most quick place to gauge what players need and cant play game without.

Yes - its not whats fun - its about what mod players cant play this game without.

thanks for reading.

well thats the issue. The topic is not about mod. Please read the topic, not just the title. I understand you are very busy guys, but if you read whole topic its clear, that its not about the mod.

I dont want to reword it, but do devs at what point consider the mod to be utmost important to be ingame by default? When does it happen, how popular the mod has to be to be considered as a valid metric?

@warped mulch Counter argument. If millions of copies have been sold, but only a few thousand or ten's of thousands downloaded a mod, why would you want to change the core mechanics for the larger majority? Often devs do add features or ideas from mods, but at the same time it is also important for devs to stick to their idea for a game without majorly impacting the core functionality. This is why modding exists, so people can play the game the way they want to without taking away from the direction/vision of the game.

I'm merely just saying think of it from the side of people who don't want change is all. Not that changes don't ever happen. Say for example you want the ability to have more fast travels? For a solo game this might be fine, or even with 1 other player, but if you are playing with 4-8+ people, this might cause performance issues with having more teleports and places people can build(along with trivializing the game). Not the best example, but the first I came up with. Probably would be best to give examples of what mods you are speaking about.

okay you are not a lier, you are a scammer.
"merely look at people who dont want change".

  1. who are those people?
  2. why do you assume i know such people
  3. why you even giving me arguments when i only asked a question
  4. why you twist my question into a demand?
  5. cant you just leave me alone and not bother with projecion attacks, its quite rude.
  6. its not "millions of copies have been sold" - why do you lie about that? Its only 1mil copies sold, not 2mil not 3mil not 5mil...
  7. why you lying about that I want to change core mechanics. What core mechanics i want to change, based on my question? which is this topic.

dont bother to throw vague fuel in this peaceful thread, faking that im some sort of bad guy in the eyes of the devs. Cheesh never seen such a person before...

Just be clear with your ask is all I mean, I believe you are misunderstanding my replies. Devs (in all games) add features all the time from the modding communities. You are asking if they will take it into consideration, and asking for a number of downloads, which I highly doubt you'll get an answer to that because its entirely up to them. If you have a specific mod you are interested in seeing as a core mechanic, I would suggest you just ask about those features being considered (was the point I was trying to get too).

Asks the devs a question/offers a suggestion -> ACTUAL dev asks what he means -> "I dont want to reword it"

Best example to that topic is last game update Version 0.10.0.4.268-9d2ca277

Especially this:

Saplings can now be planted with higher density (reduced spacing requirements)

Which was partially covered by this mod before:

Let the mod community build and improve the game as they desire. The devs position is to create a great gaming experience.

Mods as a need for the community is a horrible idea.

People like to tint the car windshield really dark…. so all cars should be sold with really dark tint?

This argurment has no logic.

# warped mulch do you even care?

Again over a million copies sold less than 10,000 have downloaded a mod why force that on those million people? First.
Next we are not even 30 days out in Early Access. A modder makes a mod and well it works but barely so they publish it. They are not paid so they do not care about quality. A game developer is running a BUSINESS and they MUST care about quality. How about giving this dev team a CHANCE to develop this game instead of posting things like this while they are very much concentrating on stablizing the game for all before beginning content updates?
Do you have any clue what goes into developing a game? I have very little knowledge but I know I could never do it. You buy Early Access to SUPPORT the devs not to compare their work to a modder that is bored or wants all these easy mode mods.
Also remember that you have an OPINION and so do I. My opinion differs from yours makes neither of us right or wrong.
Just give these guys a chance, all you need to do. Come back in a year with this topic even 6 months.
