Emptying the holds of other players

I was wondering if it was possible to get to the holds of other players' ships. I created a second character and gave him the main character's ship. After destroying a pirate, there are wreckage pieces left behind, and when you pick them up on someone else's ship, you can interact with the other ship's hold. Specifically, you can throw everything out of the hold and then pick it up with your character from the water. The video is attached.
