I've visited three camps and killed all the pirates there, looted all the chests, and the POI indicator has changed to a checkmark, and I have the three required journals. However, the quest progress hasn't changed, even though there are no quest signs on the map for those three camps. I haven't installed any mods.

I have literally did this mission last night with no issue. Fought the pirates on the sea, went to get the keys, fought the level 2 boss as well, no issues so far.
I do mention it happened in a server, not in a solo or host

So frustrating. I even tried a suggestion to using a save game editor to give myself the three journals and drop them to repick them up with no success
I was playing multiplayer with my son and he progressed to next step. We did the quest together

(SPOILERS) I did this mission last night, I missed the part where you have to speak to the prisoner in the arena where you fight the boss, you then have to assign a new camp mate via the campfire and then you get the option to speak to them - could it be this ??

Hanging on the wall in the arena, it's a bit later on in the mission but I just thought I'd mention it incase this is what was also being missed...

Oh, I had no issues there... Look for things like skeletons on the floor, and tables etc to interact with as they can be easily missed

Journals don’t end up in inventory and it was empty pretty much. They go right into curios

It's strange, we (a group of just shy of 10) have all progressed with no issues through this mission... If you've revisited the areas and checked for loot on the floor that you may have missed etc then sorry I can't help any further - I just wanted to mention something that I missed whilst progressing through that mission... Hopefully the devs fix it for you 🙂

@blissful coral is this a problem the devs are looking into ? I’ve used no mods nor trainers and I’ve tried loading an old save, deleting the game, playing in Solo and starting a new map all with the same result. Any help would be appreciated

Have you visited all pois in the 2nd tier? That quest is a bit vague, and honestly you might just need to complete an island poi's still.

I’ve visited and completed all 3 poi’s and collected the chests. On hands on fools and on prisoners were all read in the curios and the stories is showing but no quest progression

We had people on our server with similar issues but we just continued doing pois and the boss and they were fine. I'm talking POI completion for tier 2 zone, do you still have more to find period.

There are like 28? total pois forget the exact number, if you take a screen shot of your map it will show there

You likely missed something on those poi's. I would say just visit each island on foothills and clear all the pois completely.

I’m still technically on the coastal jungle part of the map. Can’t reach foothills because of this mission ?

Foothills island all have costal jungle portions on the outsides, but the centers are "foothills biome"

Ok well you ahve the boss killed, so can remove that as a possible issue, yeah I wouuld say just make sure you goto and clear all the pois on the islands so they all show checkmarks on the foothill islands and you'll progres forward.

The three pieces of journal unlocks this story
Which is then meant to progress you to the next part of the quest. When the person I was playing with opened theirs in the curios the quest progressed but it didn’t for me
His had yellow dots on the journal in the curios but mine didn’t. That was the only difference I noticed

No. And a few people have had this complaint and it’s been listed as solved because they used a mod or sped up the game for ship travel

Are you below level 8? I don't think that should matter, but just never notcied the red text on quests like yours before.

I am level 7 but my friend was on level 6 when he completed it

Try joining your own game and see if you can redo the quests on your own map/if they markers pop up.

And created a new map
And joined another multiplayer on someone’s server
Deleted the game and reinstalled
Each time reloading an earlier save before the quest began and doing the poi’s again
With the same result

You need to be in tier 3 zones to build the frigate, which you cannot process till you complete tier 2. So likely, save edit?

Yes but you need tarred cloth, which you cannot make until you have the tier 3 tables, which you cannot build till you complete tier 2 😄 Which implies that either a mod or a save edit has been used to bypass the game progression, which is likely causing your issue with the quest. Granted it is possible someone else gave you those items, but I'm not 100% positive you can build it till you progress, would have to try. Anyways its just something I noticed from your screenshot.

The materials for the ship was split between me and the person I was playing with
He may have gotten it from elsewhere but I wouldn’t even know how to save game edit files

Anyways, I'm not sure there is much you can do other than starting a new character, sadly. I would stay away from using any kind of mods as the game is in early development and likely to break your game.

Thanks for the report. Issues like this are usually caused by modding or installing mod manager apps (by you, server owner or other players on the server).
Remove all mods and mod managing apps and try again. If it doesn't help - try fresh reinstall.
If still doesn't help, your character might be corrupt, unfortunately.

Make sure when talking or looking st the various objects you click leave and dont hit escape to exit any dialog. hitting esc to close dialog window wont trigger quest progression.

I've tried creating a new world, but the quest still won't progress. Eventually, I deleted the old character and created a new one, and there were no more issues with the same quest.

I got all the equipment I needed and left them on my old map
Restarted a new character
And quest progressed no issues. I wasn’t modded either but had used tainted wood and leather my team mate got from somewhere to build the frigate
So uninstall, new character and it should be ok
I just went back to the old map to get my equipment and resources to build ship again
