So as far as i can tell i can unlock it fine on other charters in the open quest however since i already did the tutorial on this charter and didn't get a bell till later i believe this has locked me out of being able to build the fast travel bell
#The missing fast travel bell discovery unlock

Were you using the fast travel mod before and now you are not, or using it now and weren't before?
Or on servers that were.
This mod has affected players I have heard.
nope
I hope they can work this out for you, fast travels are essential (meantime, you can call your small dingy boat to any body of water and fast travel for free froom it anywhere you do have a bell)
I know, its not much, but its something.
Sorry this happened.
hi i have also the issue that i do not get the fast bell recepie
my sencario was i joined a mp server with already some progress. (i defenetly used fast travel what are placed) befor i found the bell myself.
Mp has no mods
I did a Test and joind a fresh new local world but the caves are marked as cleared already. so i could not trigger it again
Your progress is tied to your character and not the world
@raw vector Have you tried dropping the bell you have and picking it up again?
yup
did same test also not working for me
Would it may help you if we send our char save data ? for analyse ?
I also have this bug. I am playing unmodded, went through the tutorial, and do not have the fast travel point unlocked, and have discovered the bell.
i have looted a bell, crafted one, and had a friend toss me one, still no recipe
Ok so in the games current state it seems the only way I could find would be to modify my save file to unlock the discovery of you don't want to do that then I recommend just starting a new character
Could you recommend a save editor that will allow me to edit the known recipes? I'd really prefer not to restart since I host the game for my friends
I dig threw files to find cool things
any mods can break anything in the game. no wonder you have unlock issues when you mod and/or datamine stuff you are not supposed to get
Then play with them
I don't play with mods
Well you'd just need to make a new character and I can't recommend a Dave editor cause I don't know any I just edit the files manually
They are unused assets in the game current state
Not obtainable threw normal means
So you were able to modify your unlocks in the game files?
Yes you can manipulate almost anything on a computer
Okay, let's not be condescending. Not all games allow editing at that level. My aim was just to verify that it was possible. I'll take a look this evening and see if I can resolve this issue for myself.
No I didn't mean it in that way I'm not familiar with your experience with computers so I was just trying to say it's possible to do anything on a computer and modify anything with enough time sorry English is my second language
Understandable, my apologies. I appreciate the clarification.
Again I'm sorry I'm not great with writing and typing out msg to convey information
That is entirely fair. All is forgiven.
Thanks for the report. Remove all mods and mod apps and try again. Any game or save modifications cause severe problems and can corrupt your save.
If this doesn't help, try reinstalling and restoring your save from backup.
If this doesn't help either, there is not much we can do.
I'm on night shift right now so I'm a bit tired, I apologize for my own lack of understanding.
This happened before any modifications
I just wanted to finish the game before starting a new save
Though I would just make the issue know
Is this something that can be fixed in the future with a patch? Like a check on what entitlements a player character should have based on completing the tutorial quest, and attributing any missing recipes on completion?
Recipe unlocks work as is, so no idea if anything will be changed.
But they dont... My save was completely unmodified when I experienced the bug.
The two other players on the world I hosted were able to unlock it just fine, but I was not.
Someone else I was trying to help (had a frigate at level 7 and was just starting the tier 2 questline's so impossible to have a frigate technically), doing any kind of edit to your game may affect your progression/questing.
I've also replicated the bug successfully if you don't find the bell till after you complete the first quest or if
Interesting. So if you don't obtain a bell before completing the first quest, it's impossible to unlock the fast travel point. Ill try to replicate this later today and post
Bug replication on a modded save/client is irrelevant, sorry.
So far we don't have a single case of broken Discovery that wasn't caused by direct modding or playing with someone who has modded client/server. Just having the mod manager app installed with Windrose mounted (without actual mods installed) is known to cause issues.
I had none of those conditions. A completely vanilla, unmodified save.
We'll look into it.
Try doing it with a fresh character in a new solo-offline world. If the issue persists make a separate bug report thread.
Will do. If I'm able to replicate the bug, I will share it in a new thread. Thank you.
@mild laurel i have the issue but without any mods
And never modify my save game it’s fully native original game and savegame
Is someone may able to repair my savegame for me? Because it’s for me not only the bell, I also buoyed from the vendors those food vendors and I also did not got the build unlock in the build menu.
For the travel bell I see it in my workbench I also can craft it. But I can’t see it in my build menu
I am having the same issue, and likewise have no mods or save edits or anything. I'm a brand new player, I started a multiplayer game, another player discovered the bell at the pirate remains POI and got the Fast Travel Point recipe. I can make bells at the workstation, but I do not have Fast Travel Point as a build option under Utilities
I may have completed the first quest prior to trying to discover it
I created new characters on the same world and was able to get the Key Item flag that grants the Fast Travel Point build. I tested with two characters, one that did not complete the tutorial quest and one that did, both got the Key Item flag upon touching a Bell.
@sudden osprey what flag do you mean is it possible to repair an existing save with that knowledge? I have a good progress and would love to be able to not need to create a new char
Flag may not be quite the right term, or may only be partially correct for this situation, but basically the game trigger that happens when you pick up a new item that grants a new recipe which causes the game to then add the recipe to your character. For whatever reason, that flag is either disabled or silently triggers without activating the second part of the sequence (the pop-up and recipe)
Alina I'll shoot you a PM, got a couple questions on yours that might help us both
If you guys figure anything out regarding this, please tag me so i can fix mine as well lol
