Cannot connect to another server | Windrose | Page 1

Hello,
I was able to play the game for 2 days with friends in their servers. The update came and I cannot connect to anyone's server and no one can join mine. (Not a dedicated server). I am not tech savvy at all. I did try to follow a lot of the instructions in here. I deleted all files. I shut the cloud off in Steam, I uninstalled the game and steam, reinstalled them, The game is allowed to go through my firewall, I did the config, etc. I tried to log into a friends dedicated server, it allowed me to do the intro, the ship fight. then threw me back to the lobby. My friend said it would help if I wasn't hitting the tab key constantly. I guess he could see something on his end. I was NOT hitting any keys loading in. I'm not sure what to do next.

I know you all are busy, this is my 2nd post in 7 days that I have patiently been awaiting an answer. I have watched what you post for others with the same situation to do. I have not had any luck at all.

Hello! Very sorry that you are encountering this issue.

Can you please see if this will work for you when you are connecting to someone.

Download the attached file and put it to this directory:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\Config\Windows\Game.ini

easy way to open the needed folder:

press WIn + R

and insert this: %localappdata%\R5\Saved\Config\Windows\

download the file I posted earlier

we got that file to paste. We tested out the game.I cannot join any server still. She was able to join me for approx a minute then we got booted out

Update: we did some settings and in the network settings we switched the private to public and it's working for now!

Update: I spoke too soon! I just tried to enter a dedicated server and it kicked me to the desktop twice

BUG REPORTING GUIDE

Please share your game logs, game saves, crash dumps, and DxDiag. These are essential for diagnosing and fixing bugs.

HOW TO FIND LOGS

Game logs are located here:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\Logs

Server logs are located here:
R5\Builds\WindowsServer\R5\Saved\Logs

To get there, open Steam, find Windrose in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files. From there, archive the files in the Logs folder and share them with us.

Please name your logs in a way that describes the problem, for example: Crashedwhile_fighting_Dodo.log

HOW TO FIND SAVES

Your saves are located here:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles
Please close the game before archiving your saves!

If you are playing on a dedicated server:
• Stop both the client and the dedicated server.
• Find and archive your server logs and world save.

Dedicated server logs are located here:
R5\Saved\Logs

Dedicated server saves are located here:
R5\Saved\SaveProfiles

To get there, open Steam, find Windrose Dedicated Server in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files (or go to the folder where your Windrose Dedicated Server is stored).

Please close the dedicated server before archiving your saves.

If crashes are involved, please share crash dumps:

Game client dumps (if play offline)

Please also include your DxDiag report. This is your PC specifications in .txt format:

• Press Win + R.
• Type dxdiag and press Enter.
• When the tool opens, click Save All Information.
• Save the .txt file and attach it to your report.

hello Im his server owner. We can not set a region for our server with Gportal when we do it doesnt work at all none can connect. If we leave the useregion blank it works.

we have had 30+ people in our world no with no issues.

blue eye has been the sole guy we cant get in at all..

Just a quick update. I plugged an ethernet cord in and I'm able to join other players servers including the dedicated server @cedar shell
Others have connected to mine. Its been approximately an hr and have had no issues yet.

so @outer valve now only 4 of us can connect after this update the rest of us have verified steam files.. restarted steam got the 620mb update so did the server... bc we have a few on and playing but the other like 20+ of us just get this...
