Ahoy, captain, sorry to hear that! However, we have intorduced a save backup system since Apr 19, so you might be able recover most of the progress. Could you please carefully look into this guide?
https://playwindrose.com/faq/#faq-saves
Didn't work
Were you able to fined the backed up saves? What exactly did not work?
when i try to launch the game, the loading screen keep rolling infinitely, if i try to chance and subscribe the saves in the backup, it keeps hapening, i think the backup save is crashed, if you open the zip files, and go to the character saves, you will find an folder named "C88C1E7C12CC449654B9565EBD3729E9" and Another one called "C88C1E7C12CC449654B9565EBD3729E9 -2" its like the game tryied to save 2 same characters, and got an negative number, the files in the folder "-2" are with the same age that my char, and the files in the normal one, are more recent, if i try to swap the files, bringing the files of -2 to the normal one, when i launch the game, i need to create a new character, and when i keep the -2 folder, and delete the other, the game don't even launch
my world works properly, but my character is gone, all my contructions, my old ships and everything is there, but my old character is not acessible
Hope its ok if I post here, having the same problem, followed the guide and removed "SaveProfiles" aftering backing it up. Now steam is saying it is out of sync and only applying the new character screen. If I replace current SaveProfiles with the backup, it is stuck in loading screen. 🙏
Update, my character is back hope this will help since you have the saved.zip maybe you can try, these are the steps i followed 1. remove this whole backups folder C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles\%your_Steam_ID%_Backups 2 . remove everything in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles\%your_Steam_ID%\ that is not RocksDB 3. remove everything inside C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles\%your_Steam_ID%\RocksDB 4. choose the timestamp you want from the backup, copy everything inside of that timestamp folder's RocksDB and place them all in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles\%your_Steam_ID%\RocksDB
the only problem now is that i cant turn on steam cloud save again, since it shows as 'out of sync' and will download the empty new save if enabled, and need to do this whole process again
@limpid eagle I recommend keeping it off until we do a next update to address it (hopefully soon)
@sleek sleet sorry to hear that. But for now I don't quite understand what's the issue. I will need some info from you to proceed, including logs and save files (and backups). Please provide them if possible.
