Getting the above error when joining a friends server. It’s an in game coop/session. Game froze and had to hard exit the game, then this is happening. Can join my own game just fine.

Well, thats the answer. Remove the mods and mod managers and try again. At this point your world/characters might be corrupted already, so keep playing at your own risk.

We found a fix. He created a new character and joined the server and done the tutorial. After that he logged out and back into his old character with no issues

This doesn't change the fact that using mods can and will cause potentially irreversible issues with your saves.
