They posted some kind of "fix" but I couldn't get it to work. Idk if it will work for you it was under game support should be the top topic. I hope they get a real fix other than messing with games files cause put over 50 hours in my friends servers and I dont want to lose all that progress

Thanks for the report! The latest update introduced the automatic backup system, so in most cases right now the fix is simply restoring the last backup.
But If the last time you've successfully played was before the update and you don't have backups we only have limited workarounds for save restoration.

It can be fixed by disabling steam cloud and removing you "C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles" folder, but it will make you lose progress.
To try to save progress, we have only two solutions that aren't guaranteed, but helped in some cases.

Solution 1

  1. Close the game, turn off steam cloud saves in game setting on the games page in your steam library.
  2. Go to
    C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Local\R5\Saved Make a backup of this folder just in case, then delete it.
  3. Launch the game - it should ask you to create the new character. Do it.
  4. Close the game and enable steam cloud saves back.
  5. When Steam finds a conflict in save files, choose the Steam Cloud version.

Soltion 2

  1. Disable steam cloud saves
  2. Go to %Localappdata%\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles(profile-id-numbers)\RocksDB\0.10.0\Accounts(account-id-numbers)\CURRENT
  3. Open with any text editor (notepad), it will contain text like MANIFEST-000005
  4. In same folder look for file called MANIFEST-XXXXXX
  5. If file name is not the same as from CURRENT step 3 - rename it to match step 3.

People report these solutions working for them, but we can't be sure they'll help you.

If the issue occured after the yesterdays update you now have automatic backups of your saves and can restore them if something is wrong.

see the issue is I can't do that, I tried, but it isn't working, don't get me wrong I love this game, I want it to succeed but lets be honest if I have to mess with files in my computer (which I did do) there is a problem

Help with what? I have no idea what is your issue, you're discussing it in a thread made by another player, even though it is clearly stated in the posting rules to NOT do that.

okay, it is the same exact problem I even pointed out your copy and paste "solution" hoping it would help the guy but I told him it didn't work for me so excuse me for trying to be helpful to someone other than a standard copy and paste "solution" that doesn't work for everyone. and again, people shouldn't have to mess with their files to get a game to work, I hope a real solution comes out soon but I see that ignoring comments seems to be the norm here
