#When does the server clean up?
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
following for answer
items that you throw away within the bonfire range never disappear, those that you throw away beyond the bonfire range should disappear on server restart
I'll check it out but I did a restart this morning and still found things on the ground from yesterday.
I can test it again 🙂
I teleported away, chopped trees down and deleted all my player created stuff (in case the bell also has some ground clutter protection). I rebooted the server and the items are still on the ground. Hoping there is a timed decay - otherwise servers will start to melt.
if they are not disappearing beyond the bonfire range we will look into it, may sound like a bug
I can 100% confirm that items are not being deleted off the ground after a restart.
Are there any flags I can look at on the server that perhaps did not get flagged?
I can submit a bug report for this too if that helps.
I belive there could be a bug that if you had your inventory full while mining ore, this ore will not disappera. but I assume you should not worry about this, it should not affect the performance our your server
if you could provide a log - taht woul be amazing!
Please share your game logs, game saves, crash dumps, and DxDiag. These are essential for diagnosing and fixing bugs.
HOW TO FIND LOGS
Game logs are located here:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\Logs
Server logs are located here:
R5\Builds\WindowsServer\R5\Saved\Logs
To get there, open Steam, find Windrose in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files. From there, archive the files in the Logs folder and share them with us.
Please name your logs in a way that describes the problem, for example: Crashedwhile_fighting_Dodo.log
HOW TO FIND SAVES
Your saves are located here:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles
Please close the game before archiving your saves!
If you are playing on a dedicated server:
• Stop both the client and the dedicated server.
• Find and archive your server logs and world save.
Dedicated server logs are located here:
R5\Saved\Logs
Dedicated server saves are located here:
R5\Saved\SaveProfiles
To get there, open Steam, find Windrose Dedicated Server in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files (or go to the folder where your Windrose Dedicated Server is stored).
Please close the dedicated server before archiving your saves.
HOW TO FIND CRASH DUMPS
If crashes are involved, please share crash dumps:
Game client dumps (if play offline)
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Local\R5\Saved\Crashes
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Local\R5\.sentry-native
Server dumps (if you self-host from game client)
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Windrose\R5\Builds\WindowsServer\R5\.sentry-native
SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Windrose\R5\Builds\WindowsServer\R5\Saved\Crashes
Dedicated server dumps
Windrose Dedicated Server\R5\.sentry-native
Windrose Dedicated Server\R5\Saved\Crashes
HOW TO FIND DXDIAG
Please also include your DxDiag report. This is your PC specifications in .txt format:
• Press Win + R.
• Type dxdiag and press Enter.
• When the tool opens, click Save All Information.
• Save the .txt file and attach it to your report.
Any additional screenshots and/or videos are HIGHLY appreciated!
I'll grab the log a little bit the server is transferring to a better CPU.
Yeah the mining bug hasn't effected us to a great extent I can tell. We have an active 6 - 10 people and I keep finding stone out in the water when I'm sailing around. Or randomly in a dungeon somewhere there will be stacks of fiber.
I figured that wasn't' helping our performance if it wasn't being removed over time or with restarts.
One thing I thought of: Is the garbage process using a timed event? I've used something similar to remove ground clutter with assets that are only of a certain age?
hello again sir, I belive if you are encountering laggin issues with your server this is mostly likely due to the ammount of people you have on it. WE are currently not recommending to play the game with more the 4 poeple on the server, it may get laggy especially closer to the end game and during massive sea battles and boarding
Yeah we figured we'd run into lag with the people we had on the server. It was still good fun but it sent me down the rabbit hole of figuring out if things were getting removed from the ground or not and I started going back to low-level areas and found all the stone (etc) still on the ground.
if you still want to play with a larger crowd , try staying close to each other and don't spread out across the map, as soon as the group spreads out server is forced to load alot of npcs \ terain and load alot of data
and it could get heavy
Absolutely I'll let everyone know. Thanks for the info! I'll put in the bug report and logs as soon as the server is done transferring.
tahnk you sir!
for me, i did this test twice.
I hit fiber on the beach and backed up to not pick it up, then i threw stone near it.
when i relogged, the fiber that came from the drop was still there, and the stone i threw down was gone.
I assume this works the same way in caves, where when you have dropped items cause your inv is too full, it will be there later. But if you throw items outside your campfire range they will disapear at next relog
I'm pretty sure it does do garbage collection. It just takes a while to get there in some cases. Some things I've gound on the ground since probably the start of the server. Other times, I go back and the ground is completely clear.
Thanks for the information!
I had gotten mixed results asking around in help so wanted to have a better idea of how it worked 🙂
any update on this one? wouldn't mind knowing how to do a clutter clean up on the server. there's just plant fibre and wood everywhere lol
