#After patch, can't load game in solo. Following tips didn't help, now other steam games won't load

I played 9 hours leading up to this last patch. Then the game stopped loading and I got the fatal error popup. So I verified files. Uninstalled and reinstalled, turned off cloud save... Didn't work. Went into R5 game files and pulled out the game save, reinstalled and restarted. That led to my whole system locked up. During the final restart my system "updated security options" with the spinning windows load screen... Now I can't load any of my steam games!!!

@dark cloud me too on my legion go 2 it was running great this days till today i updated and i try to start the game and stuck in loading screen

Sorry I was afk... the game never starts at all. Nothing happens except the button in Steam says it's running and then after about one minute the fatal error popup appears. I just reinstalled my and drivers. I've tried Fallout76 and it doesn't load either. Something with steam seems to have been affected. I cannot uninstall steam, I just get black screen.

When you encountering such symptoms in 95% of cases there is an Issue with your saves. We do see an issues that sometimes saves could get corrupted an it is more common when you play on several devices and use Steam Cloud to sync your saves between different machines. We do not know why this happens and currently investigating this. For now we recommend to disable Cloud Saves for Windrose while playing the game.

If your last session happened before Sunday the 19th and you now cannot load into the game, it is most likely that your save is corrupted and cannot be restored. But if you delete your saves you should be able to load into the game.

On Sunday, April 19th we have released an update that backups your saves automatically every time the game or the server launches, so if you have played a session after Sunday 19th's update you have a save back up.

HOW TO RESTORE BACKUP FOR THE GAME CLIENT
Disable Steam Cloud saves.

Go to:

  • C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles%your_Steam_ID%_Backups
  • Select the latest backup (or any preferred one). Backups are named by date and time.
  • Copy all contents from this folder (it should contain one folder + AccountDescription.json).
  • Navigate to: C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles{your_Steam_ID}\RocksDB
  • Paste the copied files there (replace existing files if prompted).
