The same problem that others are having but with a complication. I have no local save files for the game. I launched initially through the local install, then quickly quit out after reaching the main menu and switched to Geforce Now. I played for about an hour. After closing the game, I later relaunched the game locally, then immediately quit after reaching the main menu after I remembered I wanted to play through GFN. I got a cloud sync error when launching through GFN but don’t remember what I selected. The game then went into infinite loading screen mode. I can’t do the character creation fix because I cannot get to the main menu. The loading screens are infinite through local and GFN launches. I can’t delete my progress because I do not have any local save files for the game. I am on Steam Deck and in both the Steam local files and the Proton windows files for the game, there is no “Saved” folder in the R5 folder. I can see that I have Steam Cloud files for the game though the Steam site but I don’t have the ability to delete them. I have tried variations of turning Steam Cloud Sync on and off, and using the cloud_sync_up command to try to get my nonexistent save files to overwrite the existing cloud save files. Whether I select “Cloud Files” or “Local Files” when launching the game with a cloud sync error has no effect.

Thanks for the report! If you no longer have your local save file there is not much we can do, unless you mean somethin else.
With cloud saves turned off you should be able to delete your local save and start the game normally with a fresh save.
Unless the path to your save contains special characters or non-english letters - that might corrupt the initial saves.
Thanks for the response, but I think my situation wasn’t fully clear. I have no local save files at all. Not because I deleted them, but because I play primarily through GeForce Now, which doesn’t write save files locally. There is nothing for me to delete. My save exists only in Steam Cloud, which I cannot delete from the Steam remote storage page. Turning cloud sync off and launching the game still results in an infinite loading screen. Is there anything you can do on your end to wipe my cloud save for this account?
We need access to your local save on the GFN cloud machine to help. Do you have some kind of public ID in GFN that we could refer to and try to contact them for help?
That would be amazing, thank you. I have both the username and email address associated with the account. I don’t want to share them into the public discord server though. Is there a private support channel or ticket option?
