When clicking from desktop shortcut/ main exe/ steam client, black screen comes up and closes. In the taskbar I can see the windrose icon but that's it. Can't even get to the main menu.

Verify game files in Steam and remove any and all mods (if you use them), restart Steam client and ensure the game or Steam are not running with mismatched permissions (as admin on one of the executable).

As Arc pointed out earlier it is the same SteamAPI failed to initialize, conditions not met issue in the log.

From my own monitoring you are so far the only one with this particular issue.
Do you have custom Steam client maybe ? Modified files in any way ?
Have you tried to completely uninstall the game, the demo and remove all leftover files manually ? (both in %LOCALAPPDATA% as well as from installation directory)

ok I may have found a workaround. After verifying the files We need to put engine.ini at %AppData%\Local\R5\Saved\Config\Windows
every time we quit the game, it will remove the file
so if it doesn't open next time, we need to put it there again

Hi, I think this may be a coincidence as this file was only supposed to add more detailed logs so that we can see if there was a specific game asset causing trouble

I believe the culprit was steam overlay. Disabled it. Now running fine so far
