As per the title, I don't know if this is intentional but I would have expected them to be considered music, not be tied in with actual sound effects.

Pretty sure this is intentional as it is a way to be able to order the crew to sing even if you have music off. A lot of people play with music off, and they shouldn't have to go in to settings to turn it on in the event that they decide to hear a sea shanty.
I, for one, play with music off but I LOVE the sea shanties! They are so well done. Hat off to the devs for that one!

In that case, maybe they should have a separate channel, it's weird that in order to turn up he sea shanties, I'm forced to also turn up gunshots, footsteps, waves etc etc
