In a dedicated Server, I buried a treasure chest in my base to protect valuables from being stolen by other players. Upon digging up the chest, it auto breaks the chest, and many of the materials within disappeared as well.

Thanks for the report! Right now digging near structures causes them to break and removes dropped items. So we don't recommend digging near your buildings or valuables.

It would be cool if we had a basic lock option for storage in general.
