#[Same Network] Server R5Error
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
They are currently having issues -- we're unable to spin up our server either. All servers dropped about 20 minutes ago and only a handful have successfully started back up.
Not saying there aren't other issues at play for your server, but troubleshooting it right now is probably not a good idea until we get the green light from the devs that the general server issue is resolved.
Good day sir!
We have some issues with local network connectivity for now. It's on our to fix list. Three things I've seen so far that helped other people are:
Disabling riot Vanguard
Setting up DMZ in router to establish connection
Just simply connecting two devices with wired connection
We are working on a propper solution as we speak and will hopefully be able to release a fix
oh good timing on my part, LOL, Thank you for the heads up
[Same Network] Server R5Error
Good day gentlemen, just wanted to give you a heads up that we have released an update today that now allows Direct Ip connection that should allow you to connect to each other from within the same network. We do not have a guide yet, and it could require sometechnical shenanigas, but if you know how this is done in other games that allow direct IP connection I believe this should hopefully solve your issue
so I what do I need to edit in ServerDescription.json to allow direct IP, no I have not done this in other games.
tried code that GubeCoders posted, no luck here.. . but anyways my husband was too impatient and rented a server instead.
Very sorry, we don't yet have a dedicaste serve set up guide 🙁
hope you would have smooth sailing!
@spare hill Hi! It's a dedicated windows server or it's on linux? )
If it's on linux in docker and want to use DirectConnection feature then you need to add the following line to your docker-compose:
network_mode: "host"
This is the best way to deal with docker network issues and bypass port management to the host machine.
On windows right now, I do want to do linux, but I read the cpu load is less on windows at this time compared to linux due to docker.
On windows server 2019 here and still having issues connecting across LAN, but i'm able to host and my wife on the LAN join with invite code and play for hours with no issues. All ports are forwarded, etc. Tried with server in DMZ and also not with no changes. Hopefully they will find a fix soon.
I see in the server window the connection attempt, etc. but it seems to just time out. Tried both invite code and direct IP with no luck here
Thank you for the replies, will try it again in future. It's my husband and I on lan with server and a friend outside.
@swift fog Here's a question that might be related to my specific issue, do you know if they will have the game not require the avx instruction set on processors? I know my dual CPUs don't support it, and I have to run SDE to emulate it. Not sure if that could cause the issues with my specific server or if it's unrelated
I do not know, but perhaps @vernal root could answer this whe he has time
Hi, atm the game requires AVX1 instruction set, but not AVX2. What are your CPUs?
@vernal root Dual Intel Xeon E5620, they don't support avx at all
I see, indeed.
We did not use AVX2 to keep wider compatibility, but AVX1 was introduced about 15 years ago, so we assumed pretty much everyone would have it. Unfortunately, some of our systems depend heavily on AVX1.
Understood, is that even server side? I used Intel SDE and the server runs but I'm wondering if that's causing the issues with connecting to the server on lan
@vernal root if there's another test and I'm free I'd love to try to test and see if that's what's causing the issues I have. I can host on my gaming system and have my wife join no issues just can't connect to server on lan
Thanks for the answers! Appreciate it!
Well, hard to say. I'd suspect that if at least your wife can join and play over LAN, the server itself works fine. I'll forward that to the team, maybe they'll have some ideas.
It's only server side that don't support it. Client side for both our systems are good and can host with no issues
If I host from my system is fine but neither of us can connect to the server when it's running
Ah, then I misunderstood. You can host on your local machine just fine and your wife can join over LAN, but if you host dedicated server on your double Xeon machine, you can't join?
Can you attach both client and server R5.log after an unsuccessful connection attempt?
Please share your game logs, game saves, crash dumps, and DxDiag. These are essential for diagnosing and fixing bugs.

I'm at work now till 1630cst but soon as I'm home I'll delete the log file on each to get fresh log and send them
I did send logs to @swift fog already if he/she still has them. Pretty much same issue
Was logs from client, server and dxdiag
But once I'm home I'll get new ones also
@vernal root here's the older logs
That's my system, and server logs plus dxdiag
Thanks, forwarded them to the team
I'll get new logs once I'm home
@vernal root I'm back from work, here's the fresh logs, just fired up server and tried to connect once, stopped server and closed game on client.
Deleted all old logs before getting those
Thanks, forwarded those too
If they find the cause can they reach out if there's anything I can do on my end. Appreciate it!
Judging by the logs, the server started fine, but the client failed to connect to 192.168.10.10:7777
Can you please check the following steps?
- Verify that the server ip is correct using ipconfig, for example
- Try using a port other than 7777, like 17777 or any other port as long as it's less than 65000
- Check if there's firewall or antivirus blocking incoming connections on server or maybe the client's antivirus is blocking the outgoing connection
@vernal root 1) IP is reserved in DHCP due to outside connections from other games servers. 2) I'll have to try when I get home but I've used 7777-7778 before with ark etc. 3) I'll double check client side but I know all common game ports are forwarded both router and server side for sure.
@vernal root Ok, was finally able to test again, changed port to 27015 which I know is set in all FW, router rules. Same issue just loading, then after a few mintues goes back to main menu again.
Can you attach logs after you changed the port?
Here are client and server log. I could see on the server window the connection attempt
Any update on my issue? Still no luck here with connecting to server
Sorry, no updates yet. Our networking people are very busy at the moment with all the fixes, they'll take a look at logs sometime later this week.
Can you send all the logs from server logs folder?
@vernal root I'll work on getting the log folder zipped and attached after work today
Here's all logs from the saved/logs folder, including backups
In a few days I will be able to do another test of sorts, managed to get a upgraded server, R730 with dual xeon that support the instruction set but it will take a bit to get it setup and test run the game server on it
Once I'm setup and test with the newer server might give an answer to the older cpu just can't run the server with sde enumlation
Hi, after looking into logs once again the problem seems to be in server taking too long to generate the game world.
So it's probably the CPU being a bit too slow. Maybe SDE emulation is partly to blame, since it probably adds overhead.
If you manage to check the game on an upgraded server, it'd be interesting to hear back whether the server works fine
@vernal root thanks for the update. I was thinking the same it appeared that the player would time out waiting for the world load. I have the new server just working on getting everything setup. It'll take me a day or two but I'll for sure report back once it's up and running.
Dell PowerEdge R730xd

New server spec
@vernal root I just got the server setup, ports forwarded, after fresh install of Server 2019, installing dedicated server with SteamCMD, I was able to direct connect via IP and load into the server. I believe that you were correct and my hunch was right also that the server was never loading the world after player connection. So I guess for anyone trying to run on an older server SDE will not work for the avx emalation to run the server. Not sure if can be put in notes or troubleshooting that it won't work unless something on the server side could avoid the avx instruction set. I can confirm with this new server it does work and will connect.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll forward that to our server people.
Thanks for taking your time to test various things and send us logs.
No problem, always loved setting up servers and helping with figuring out the issues or at least in this case that it won't work with older hardware
Also, congratulations on your new server, that new setup is quite beefy
Thanks, was a great deal and was looking for something new, but as usual for servers pricy lol
Glad to help out and assist with troubleshooting where I can. PC tech and network engineer so love challenges lol
If you want to compare, here is the log from the new server.
Might help with troubleshooting or something
