I had this problem and it was caused by corrupted cloud save. I disabled the cloud saves in steam settings, started the game, turn cloud saves on with the game running, and quit the game which forces steam to upload/overwrite the cloud save.
when I disabled the cloud saves on steam, the game fired right up no issue. key note as if it doesn't fire up, you have another problem
i could not get the saved file to come up.. I was forced to start anew. Thankfully I wasn't too far progressed
hey ppl, since the topic is already posted, i have kind of the same issue... regardless hosting the game or joining a friends i stuck on the infinite loading screen.. i can hear music, water and seagull (so i assume it is not frozen or something), also the tips on the bottom are changing.. i have disabled the cloud saves as suggested but no difference. i checked also the files, no repair was needed. did all the tips with firewall, router restart etc and logged also via mobile phone hotspot but still not able to pass the loading screen.. any suggestion?
tbh after some time, the game is not returning me back to the main menu or something... just this screen

I am also stuck on the loading screen not even reaching main menu or character, I've never played the demo so i have no saved profiles, and ive been at this for 3 going on 4 hours, tried these solutions listed, nothing works. I bought the game a few days ago but today was the first day i tried to start the game.

I disabled the sync in steam and it works, but I bet it will mess it up somehow later if/when I turn it on again so backup the save after each game

Whats up just finish doing the configuration on my server and i try to join im stuck in loading All Ports are open 7.7.7.7 and 7.7.7.8 game see it running but when i join im stuck in the loading page...............

do a backup first, it will wipe your characters etc

if you already reinstalled the game and deleted that cache folder and issue persists, sounds like some hardware incompability with the game

When you encountering such symptoms in 95% of cases there is an Issue with your saves. We do see an issues that sometimes saves could get corrupted an it is more common when you play on several devices and use Steam Cloud to sync your saves between different machines. We do not know why this happens and currently investigating this. For now we recommend to disable Cloud Saves for Windrose while playing the game.
If your last session happened before Sunday the 19th and you now cannot load into the game, it is most likely that your save is corrupted and cannot be restored. But if you delete your save folder it should fix it for you.
HOW TO DELETE SAVES
Disable Steam Cloud saves.
Go to:
- C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\
- Delete SaveProfiles folder
On Sunday, April 19th we have released an update that backups your saves automatically every time the game or the server launches, so if you have played a session after Sunday 19th's update you have a save back up.
HOW TO RESTORE BACKUP FOR THE GAME CLIENT
Disable Steam Cloud saves.
Go to:
- C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles%your_Steam_ID%_Backups
- Select the latest backup (or any preferred one). Backups are named by date and time.
- Copy all contents from this folder (it should contain one folder + AccountDescription.json).
- Navigate to: C:\Users%username%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles{your_Steam_ID}\RocksDB
- Paste the copied files there (replace existing files if prompted).

I played last night on the home desktop, then made sure to upload to cloud. Even tested it on my laptop to make sure I was good for today, and it's infinite load screen season again 😒

Last time i play was on saturday, and Sunday morning i was trying to play but with the patch this happens
So i was trying to play on the 19
before or after the update?

Gentlemen, I am very sorry that this happened to you and you have encounterd that issue 🙁
We have rolled out the emergency fix that creates backup save files, but it look in your case when you launched the game the save file was corrupted due to sync issue with Cloud saves. I am extreamly sorry 🙁
I;m afraid the only option we have here sir is to start from scratch. Very sorry taht you have run into this issue

i dont remember trying to delete the saveprofiles folder yesterday. but once i deleted it and replaced with the backup save its up and running again!
