#The game crashes when I try to connect to the server. What's causing this?

To help get your answers need to know the Specs of your PC.
CPU?
GPU/VRAM amount?
RAM Amount/Type?
Installed on what?
Without that crucial information best you will get is guessing. You can get that info many ways easily. Need help holler.
Do you need the specs for my PC or the server? Because I can only play single-player games on the server without any problems. My friends play there just fine, too, but I'm the one with the problem.
my pc Ryzen 7 5800x3d RTX 5070 48Gb RAM
Okay so I do not know much about AMD CPU however based on your GPU guessing that is a decent CPU. You have plenty of RAM I have the same amount. Your GPU is 2 series ahead of mine. Comparing to me because i run this at 60 FPS with no issue. Pretty sure i locked it there at 2k res.
Now I am using Studio Driver for the GPU instead of Game Ready. Icarus is a game I know has had many with crashes that use the Game Ready. They switch to Studio and 0 issues. Could try that see if it works. Suggested it to the Devs here too in another thread where people were rolling Game Ready back months to get the game to work.
I am not a tech person I just absorb information and share it where I see it can help.
Can easily switch Drivers in your Nvidia App, that is where I did it.
What do the drivers have to do with it if the game crashes when connecting to a server? At least it worked in single-player before the update. After the update, it worked intermittently, but that's a different matter.
I am not sure, only telling you what I know based on details you have shared. Why i explained the reason for the suggestion. You have an issue offering a solution that takes 5 minutes to test.
There are no problems, it's already installed. I'm just trying to understand how this is connected.
believe it or not it's connection related. I couldnt connect with Exitlag or my native connection yesterday. Only Cloudflare WARP worked. (game didnt crash). Post update i tried again. Same thing except this time game crashes unless i use WARP. it's really frustrating because warp is giga lagging right now
Well, I tried it and it crashed even faster
just get cloudflare WARP. devs gave it as a solution yesterday
has nothing to do with ur gpu drivers rn
you can thank me later 🙂
Unfortunately, for some reason it doesn't work on my PC. It asks to restart the system, but restarting doesn't do anything.
might have to troubleshoot that online. it's a really well documented application
I'm currently having an memory leak, the server runs 4.5GB ram and when 2nd player joins my usage jumps to 20GB. and keeps going until it crashes.
Maybe your issue could be the same reason?
That's interesting. We haven't had this problem. It even kicks me out when I'm the only one connecting to the server. We encountered something similar yesterday, but changing the server region helped.
Hi! Let me ask few question to better pinpoint an issue
So you can play solo/offline without any problems, but when you connect to someones host game crashes? Or you just stuck on loading screen?
The game keeps crashing. Now, after the daily update, I've started having problems in solo mode. The screen freezes after loading. When connecting to a server, it takes 10-20 seconds and then the game simply stops working, without any error notifications or anything. When connecting via VPN, it sometimes takes me to the menu instead of shutting down, but the result is always the same. Yesterday, after 30 or 40 attempts, I was able to connect to the server once and play. But today, everything is back to normal.
So your main problem is not a game crash, but rather impossibility to join a server?
Well, yes, that's true. But isn't the fact that the game shuts down when I try to log in a glitch? Meanwhile, three of my friends can log into the server at any time without any problems.
So your game crashes when you try to join someone's server, got it.
Please provide all logs and dxdiag files
Please share your game logs, game saves, crash dumps, and DxDiag. These are essential for diagnosing and fixing bugs.
HOW TO FIND LOGS
Game logs are located here:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\Logs
Server logs are located here:
R5\Builds\WindowsServer\R5\Saved\Logs
To get there, open Steam, find Windrose in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files. From there, archive the files in the Logs folder and share them with us.
Please name your logs in a way that describes the problem, for example: Crashedwhile_fighting_Dodo.log
HOW TO FIND SAVES
Your saves are located here:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles
Please close the game before archiving your saves!
If you are playing on a dedicated server:

HOW TO FIND CRASH DUMPS
If crashes are involved, please share crash dumps:
Game client dumps (if play offline)
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Local\R5\Saved\Crashes
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Local\R5\.sentry-native
Server dumps (if you self-host from game client)

SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Windrose\R5\Builds\WindowsServer\R5\Saved\Crashes
Dedicated server dumps
Windrose Dedicated Server\R5\.sentry-native
Windrose Dedicated Server\R5\Saved\Crashes
HOW TO FIND DXDIAG
Please also include your DxDiag report. This is your PC specifications in .txt format:
• Press Win + R.
• Type dxdiag and press Enter.
• When the tool opens, click Save All Information.
• Save the .txt file and attach it to your report.
