#Hit infinite loading screen mid session, waited, closed game, offline server now wont launch.

I had a few goes at fighting the first boss, gave up and then went on to do other things.

I fast travelled from my main base, started sailing to a couple of quest locations and after a few mins suddenly hit a loading screen that lasted for ever.

I waited for around 15 mins and then Alt F4d the game down.

Relaunched game and that particular server will not let me back onto it, every time it starts loading and then boots me back to main menu.

I can get onto another server I started on the same character, but no luck whatsoever with the server that had all my progress on.

Can you please sahre a few extra details about that server? What kind of server is it?

Host by your friend? A Self hosted dedicated server? A server that you rented somewhere?

It was just an offline one, the first one I played on when i started

BUG REPORTING GUIDE

Please share your (1) game logs, (2) saves, and (3) DxDiag — they are essential for diagnosing and fixing bugs.

(1) HOW TO FIND LOGS

Game logs are located here:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\Logs

Server logs are located here:

R5\Builds\WindowsServer\R5\Saved\Logs

To get there, open Steam, find Windrose in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files. From there, archive the files in the Logs folder and share them with us.

Please name your logs in a way that describes the problem, for example: Crashedwhile_fighting_Dodo.log

(2) HOW TO FIND SAVES

Your saves are located here:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles
Please close the game before archiving your saves!

If you are playing on a dedicated server:

• Stop both the client and the dedicated server.
• Find and archive your server logs and world save.

Dedicated server logs are located here:

R5\Saved\Logs

Dedicated server saves are located here:

R5\Saved\SaveProfiles

To get there, open Steam, find Windrose Dedicated Server in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files (or go to the folder where your Windrose Dedicated Server is stored).

Please close the dedicated server before archiving your saves.

(3) Please also include your DxDiag report

This is your PC specifications in .txt format:

• Press Win + R.
• Type dxdiag and press Enter.
• When the tool opens, click Save All Information.
• Save the .txt file and attach it to your report.

(4) Any additional screenshots and/or videos are HIGHLY appreciated!

Excuse me, can you send me some additional information.

In teh logs folder, you should see several files some of them labled as "backup". Do you hink you can look at the creatind date, and pin point the one that happened around the time when you got to the loading screen, and had to ALt + F4?

or send me all of that - taht would aslo work

Yes... i've got a feeling that your world save might have gotten corrupted... but we don't understand why yet, and if we will be able to restore it

Good day sir.

Just getting back on your issue.

Have you tried restarting your PC? Before trying to launch your world? If not can you please try to do this?

Also, the zip file that you have provided also looks corrupted... I belive it could be worth to try to check your SSD for failures... I don't know what SSD model you have, but it could be wise to find it out and try to run diagnostics with something like Samsung Magician (for samsung ssds).

please let me know if restarting your PC did anything to your world.

I'll try launching when I reboot my pc after work, if that doesn't solve the issue I'll check my ssd

Game still didnt load that world file on reboot.

Checked my SSD with Samsung Wizard and its running well

Tried to see if files were corrupted with steam and it didnt flag anything up

Basically restored the files to two days ago, so it now works but ive lost a lot of items and buildings etc

Why is character reputation not tied to the character? I had all factions at 2 standing and brotherhood of the coast at level 3 previously

Hello sir, I am very sorry that you have experienced this issue 🙁
we are investingating why this could be happening. I would suggest to disable Steam cloud saves for now, even though you have only played on one PC there could've been an interference of some sort...
