LOST LOOT DURING SHIP BATTLE

I was boarding a ship during a battle while running co-op and kept dying (skill issue). My buddy stayed near the ship so it wouldn't despawn. Super nice of him. But he left, I died, and I can see three grave stones on the map but there's nowhere to retrieve said loot.
