Subject: Random Fatal Error Crashes

Hello,

I am experiencing random Fatal Error crashes while playing Windrose.

The crashes occur completely unpredictably — sometimes right at startup, sometimes after about 30 minutes, and other times I can play for 2–3 hours without any issues before it crashes.

Here is what I have already tried:

  • Installed the latest NVIDIA drivers
  • Tried downgrading GPU drivers (no difference)
  • Verified/scanned game files
  • Disabled antivirus software

Important note: I did not experience any of these crashes during the demo version.

Please let me know if you need any additional information or logs.

Best regards
FUN_RIP

I am also having the same issue. But mine are more frequent. I've tried updating everything and still nothing works.

Hello @alpine peak I am very sorry to hear that you are having issues with the game 🙁

Let me look at your logs and see if I can do anything

#

@velvet cape if you don't mind, can you please create a separate thread please? even if symptoms look simlar the isses could be different it's better to look at each issues in an isolation

#

@alpine peak can you please also provide your dxdiag please? (no 3 from instruction below)

BUG REPORTING GUIDE

Please share your (1) game logs, (2) saves, and (3) DxDiag — they are essential for diagnosing and fixing bugs.

(1) HOW TO FIND LOGS

Game logs are located here:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\Logs

Server logs are located here:

R5\Builds\WindowsServer\R5\Saved\Logs

To get there, open Steam, find Windrose in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files. From there, archive the files in the Logs folder and share them with us.

Please name your logs in a way that describes the problem, for example: Crashedwhile_fighting_Dodo.log

(2) HOW TO FIND SAVES

Your saves are located here:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles
Please close the game before archiving your saves!

If you are playing on a dedicated server:

• Stop both the client and the dedicated server.
• Find and archive your server logs and world save.

Dedicated server logs are located here:

R5\Saved\Logs

Dedicated server saves are located here:

R5\Saved\SaveProfiles

To get there, open Steam, find Windrose Dedicated Server in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files (or go to the folder where your Windrose Dedicated Server is stored).

Please close the dedicated server before archiving your saves.

(3) Please also include your DxDiag report

This is your PC specifications in .txt format:

• Press Win + R.
• Type dxdiag and press Enter.
• When the tool opens, click Save All Information.
• Save the .txt file and attach it to your report.

(4) Any additional screenshots and/or videos are HIGHLY appreciated!

I have passed this information to our tech team for investigations. Looks like some sort of a GPU crash.

If you can send me a screenshot of your performance monitor while plpaying the game that shows GPU stats, taht would also be azmaing.

I’m playing on a dedicated server, but it doesn’t matter whether I’m on the server or playing solo — it even crashes randomly in the main menu.

#

Just crashed in the main menu.

shy kelp
#

yes it looks like a GPU crash so it's not connected to the server

#

we are investigating this, if I have any feedback from the tech team I would let you know.

Meanwhile if you are using dlss or framegen, cab you try disabling those and see if you see any improvements? (im jsut guestting here tho, thisi just something that helped other player who experienced gpu related crashers)

Where can I turn this off? I'm experiencing crashes with FSL, TSR, and DLSS. I've already turned off Framegen.

shy kelp
#

can you also set frame limit to 60 fps please

alpine peak
#

the limit is set to 60 fps already

shy kelp
#
