When you die at sea, lets say you die on an enemys boat, when you respawn at your base and sail back to the tomb stone on the map, there is nothing

Happened to me today. If you die on an enemy ship, respawn at base and pull ship to travel back to finish the job, tombstone is there on the map but all items from ship (collected during travel) and character inventory are lost.

to be fair i dont mind loosing the loot, its more that the damn tomb stone is stuck on my map

I second this tombstones that are at sea even after collecting it remain on the map.

You can remove tombstone icons by right clicking on them on the map interface
