My game just crashes without any warning or message appearing on the desktop. I tried using AI to figure out why, but it says the actual cause of the crash isn't in the log.

Attached you’ll find the R5 log, the entire Saved directory, and the server log data.

I have to admit that this happens to me relatively often with UE5 gamesβ€”my games just crash out of the blue, and unfortunately, they never really tell me what exactly the problem was.

But maybe you could take a look at this and possibly help me out.

Am I correct, you are using a self hosted dedicated server?

Sometimes I can play for 2–3 hours straight without any issues until it happens, and then it happens every 5 minutes.

Take yesterday, for example.
Played for 2 hours – crash
Played for 10 minutes – crash
Then another 50 minutes – crash.

But it always just returns to the desktop; no separate UE crash report prompt.

our engineers looked into your issue but we are missing some info there apparently the crash stopped from wirting critical info into that log.

can you go to the r5 folder (the one where you get logs from)

there should be another folder called ".sentry-native" can you please zip it and send it to me as well?

okay we now understand where it is happening. it is somewhere deep inside the unreal animation system (perhaps this is why you see this happening in other unreal games). We will see what we can do here, perhaps we are not handling it correctly, but unfortunately I doubt we will be able to adress this quick πŸ™

Hello @safe valley

Our tech team inspected the information that you have provided on your crash reports, we see alot of various errors in these logs that are quite unique and do not happen often.

I believe it could be worthy for you to run RAM diagnostics and see if your ram sticks are starting to crumble.

Someone on the team suggested https://www.aida64.com/ but this is a random recomendation I have never used it myself.

this looks like CPU test (it says it throttles for you a little bit...perhaps could be worth to repaste it in the nearest future), but was there a RAM test avaialble it could be causing the issue?

In the aida free version is only a benchmark and a stresstest but no memtest

It looks fine very clean test... sorry that I had you to do this and spend your time.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT we do have issues with this video card... so it got to be it.

We will see how we can adress this is the future

yea the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT is newest generation with RDNA4 i know it have issues with the newest AMD Adrenaline Driver, the newest was i mean 26.3.1 and its creating much UE5 Crashes with reason:

  • EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
  • Crashes inside amdxc64.dll
  • Crashes inside D3D12Core.dll
  • UE5 closing before the project even loads
  • Shader compilation freezes
  • Random GPU hangs during Nanite or Lumen initialization
    These issues are caused by:
  • Broken DX12 pipeline state handling
  • Faulty shader compiler behavior on RDNA4
  • Invalid descriptor heap access
  • Aggressive shader caching that corrupts UE5’s PSO cache

In short:
UE5 + AMD 26.3.1 = unstable on RDNA4 GPUs.

Im Using a much older but Stable Version:
AMD Adrenalin 26.1.1 WHQL

fyi, yesterday i had no Crash within 6 Hours of Play, but had several 0 fps drops for few seconds (Game Standing still for almost 10 seconds) and here and then i see weird glowing colored lights while walking around.

AMD cards are still having hicups tho. tahnk you for the hint on the driver will see if it could help other players with smilar issues
