So im having a similar issue to others where the loading screen is taking super long and then when i eventually do make it past that point the character screen is just the background, nothing else.

only problem is that when i try the go-to solution (deleting the R5 folder while cloud save is off) it doesnt work, still just long loading screen into this screen:

Also - do you have any mods installed?
And have you tried using steam "repair" function or reinstalling the game?

BUG REPORTING GUIDE

Please share your (1) game logs, (2) saves, and (3) DxDiag — they are essential for diagnosing and fixing bugs.

(1) HOW TO FIND LOGS

Game logs are located here:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\Logs

Server logs are located here:

R5\Builds\WindowsServer\R5\Saved\Logs

To get there, open Steam, find Windrose in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files. From there, archive the files in the Logs folder and share them with us.

Please name your logs in a way that describes the problem, for example: Crashedwhile_fighting_Dodo.log

(2) HOW TO FIND SAVES

Your saves are located here:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles
Please close the game before archiving your saves!

If you are playing on a dedicated server:

• Stop both the client and the dedicated server.
• Find and archive your server logs and world save.

Dedicated server logs are located here:

R5\Saved\Logs

Dedicated server saves are located here:

R5\Saved\SaveProfiles

To get there, open Steam, find Windrose Dedicated Server in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files (or go to the folder where your Windrose Dedicated Server is stored).

Please close the dedicated server before archiving your saves.

(3) Please also include your DxDiag report

This is your PC specifications in .txt format:

• Press Win + R.
• Type dxdiag and press Enter.
• When the tool opens, click Save All Information.
• Save the .txt file and attach it to your report.

i have reinstalled the game and have used the verify file integrity feature, if thats what youre taljing about. if theres a repair feature i dont know about please do inform me on it. alao ill have to send the logs when im home, im at work rn. thank you.

also no, no mods installed. this would be my first time trying to load the game aside from playing the demo once

I see. People with the same problem usually have it solved by

1. turning off Steam Cloud saves
2. deleting the "Saved" folder in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\R5

Then the game launches correctly (right now steam cloud save system can corrupt your save right after installation)
Restoring the deleted save progression is much less likely, but since you don't have any yet, it shouldn't be a problem

Thats ok! But it would be easier if you just made a 7z archive of your whole "Saved" folder - it allows us to launch the game "as you" and check what happens in the process

Made a video on how to fix the damaged save file from steam cloud to get it working again. Check it out here if you didn't delete your old save yet this is how I recovered mine. problem is im getting the loading issue even tho this is my first time loading the game, i have no save data in this folder except for my account folder. and thats it.

I assume you've tried deleting the whole R5/saved folder and this is what you get after trying to launch the game and getting the infinite loading screen?

correction, first time loading the full game, i played the demo before once before, then like 2 days after that, the full game came out

Well, turns out your user name contains a special symbol that I couldn't see on the screenshot above. Right now special symbols cause this problem (we'll try to patch this in the nearest updates), so until its patched you would need to play under another user or change your user profile name.

I have a similar problem. Now I completely deleted the game (including the folder with the save files), reinstalled it, and turned off cloud saves. After starting the game, loading the menu took about 15 minutes and then a blank screen appeared with only an quit button

I'm not sure if it's a username issue. firstly when I played the demo there were no problems, secondly my friends also play without problems, although their names are written in the same language
