But before we do this, can you do the following test for me please

during your troubleshooting process, did you check if the router blocked any sites for you?
I bounce between two different Internets, 1 is a mobile hotspot by Cox the second is a mobile hotspot by Mint Mobile(my phone) so i do not have a router to access. I have done everything via my firewalls
so you tried both internets and had the same issue on both?

Yes. solo just fine. When i do the "host" my friends character loads in and i see "joined world" and then vanishes "left the world"
On the Nit Server i managed to play about 10mins beforen it lagged out, because i couldnt pick anything up, deal dmg to tress then was booted to the man menu. When I try to connect to him via "host a game" im in loading screen, he sees my character join then vansish

@woven comet How long should connecting take? I loaded up the game, clicked the server entered my password and been stating at the loading screen for 3 minutes
I was able to connect in just a few seconds, it appears that you're still experiencing connectivity issues on your end
Using Mint Hotspot I can hear the sound effects but never loads in.
Switching over to Cox I hear no sound effects and the second I start hearing the music and waves it boots me to the main screen

I have not tried. I've verified the files over and over. Should I try that now?

Hey there @brittle creek , I will continue to assist you with this. In my personal case I have been waiting around 8 minutes before I'm able to join a server, sometimes it takes less time to join.
For how much have you been stuck loading into the server?
Under Cox internet within 2 minutes I'm booted to the man menu.
With Mint Hotspot I'm still in the loading screen since 4:39pm and it's 4:43pm now so about 4-5minutes
I do hear the music and sounds
Give it a few minutes, and if the issue persists, I would recommend:
Stopping the server, wait for it to stop, go to your config files, and edit the invitation code, try changing the last digit, save the changes and start the server.

What we could try here is to assign a test server to your account, and if it works as intended and you are able to join, I can help you transferring the runtime to this new server and cancel the previous one, but first try my recommendation, please.

I use two Internet connection. Cox hotspot and a Mint Mobile hotspot.
Test them please
Cox: booted me after 2 minutes
Mint: back to infinite loading screen.
Stopped server, changed invite code
Cox: completely closed the game out after 2 minutes of loading
Cox attempt 2: booted back to loading screen after 4 minutes of loading.
Mint: back to infinite loading screen after 10 minutes of waiting.
And between all attempts I do shut the game down fully and reload.
It might be related to how mint handles the connection to the server, I'm sorry for that

shouldn't be, it might be related on how the network handles it since my coworker was able to join without issues. Try to stop the server once and modify the invitation code, please.

With cox there's no music when trying to connect only when it boots
With my Mint Hotspot the music/sounds start immediately but stuck in a infinite loading screen. I'm currently still waiting on the loading screen

Yes when I'm on the Cox Internet. It's always after close to 2 minutes of the loading screen, I've attempted multiple times just to see if I can force a connection

Its a very strange behaviour you can connect to a German server but to none in US
Just in case, try to connect your origianl server once, without changing your network, please

But what you advise I'll follow, I just don't want to go ham with my friends on the German server and if the issue gets resolved with the Murica server we have to start all over
Oh you could try to transfer worlds between servers in that case, but, if in case anything goes wrong with that, then yes, we should swap runtimes

I've also added this help to my review as well. I will say nothing and I mean NOTHING makes me feel more to a game then when devs/reps of the game and rental servers help out. Because of you I will be looking into renting more from Nitrado

They changed my server to an EU server. My issue is building becomes locked where I play an item down and it's still glowing red/green and won't spawn in.
My second issue is the game will say I've collected things and the side of the screen will say "how much" I got but when I got to my inventory they aren't there.
When this happens I can't craft anything and anything I do craft will consume the materials but won't be there.
This gets resolved by logging off but when I do this I'm stuck in infinite loading screen. I have to go to Steam and click Stop in order to get the game to close
This only happens to me. My friend in Canada and Australia both in my dedicated server do not have this issue

@coarse cobalt I just got off of work. When I host a game I'm able to load it up and play just fine, the issue is my friends cannot connect to me. The "Player has joined the world" and then I see their character but then they are disconnected and I see "Player has left the world"
This is why I bought a dedicated server to play with them.
I'm able to play offline just fine, no lag and no desync issues.
I'm here checking the service out just reading the thread since it is a lengthy one.
I see that you also have a test server too the mentioned c72d942c one.
And youre having issues with dropping items where they still glow correct?
While your friends have issues connecting to your own hosted game?
From my knowledge the "test server" became my main server. The test server the rep did was to figure out why I couldn't connect to the server in the US I paid for.
The Rep finally was able to get me to connect however the server I was able to connect to was in the EU(Germany)
I was then given that server as the US one was made the test one and dropped off
Whenever the desynchronization happens either A) I cannot build or B) the single object I tried to build is placed but is that red/orange color
Also when the desynchronization happens any and all items I pick up pop up at the side telling me how much but when I check my inventory they are not there.
The Desync also causes me to duplicate items plby placing what I already have in my inventory on a box with empty spaces and if I were to drag any item from a box and place it in my inventory the item remains in the box on my screen but if I have a friend check the box the item I took is not there meaning it was automatically deleted
This happens to me only. My friend in Canada and in Australia do not have this issue and the only issue is the 200-350ping but it's playable
The only way to fix is for me is I have to exit to the main menu, which causes an infinite loading screen so I have to go to Steam and click stop game and reload back in.
Sometimes the issues happens back to back
How do I know? When I load into the server I go and find something on the ground and pick it up if the item remains on the ground and not in my inventory I have to log off.
I get anywhere between 2 minutes to 15 minutes of gameplay.
The desync also causes the crew on my shirt to be rendered naked and there waists are missing. So floating torsos with legs. On the map any ship enemy/allay is a white square, the ships sails are all white and their names and healthbars are not there however they can damage me and I can damage them.
When they sink they leave behind loot which if I attempt to open reveals nothing
Yeah since this is happening to you it really does stem from a routing or ISP issue.
Since it was also confirmed that you cannot reach any of the Windrose backend services.
As theres an issue with the communication between you and the server hence why these issues persist.
Maybe the issue stems from the mobile hotspots that are used?
I tried to replicate the issue with mine ( not the same ISP ) but I didn't experience these issues.
Did this desync only happen on this new server or also on the old one?
My original server purchase from Nitrado was a US server. I was never able to connect so I don't know.
I only noticed this when I started playing on the EU server I was switched to.

I ask because logging onto the server my base is destroyed and items are now missing.
Is there an available backup in your service? An option to attempt to recover your progress would be loading a server backup from the tools of your web interface. Just be aware that this will replace the current save of the server, and that the timestamp are set to time in Frankfurt.
I believe there are backups since I've restarted the server a few times trying to see if I can fix the issue for myself
If its possible, and you want to test, you could try to load one
It would have to wait till later tonight as I'm off to work.
If that the backup doesn't fix my issue what you're basically saying is "get F'ed" in a nice way since it's not you or your servers it's my Internet.

It's alright no worries.
From the beginning
I am unable to do a basic host game and have my friends join me. When my friends host I cannot join them. So going through Windrose I went to Nitrado and purchased a server in the US(LA aka Los Angeles) thinking that would solve the issue. Low and behold it didn't.
A Nitrado rep was helping me by giving me invite codes to different test servers and I didn't connect to any of them. Then the one test server I did connect to was based in Germany. The Rep basically switched my payment of the US server to the EU server because I just wanted to play with me friends.
The new issue I'm having is a desynchronization issue where the items I pick up their models remain on the ground but the side bar told me I picked them up. When j check my inventory they aren't there.
This issue also causes me to duplicate items by dragging them from my inventory to an empty slot in the chest, this issue also causes any item I drag from the chest to my inventory to automatically be deleted as the item shows itself in the chest but not dragged into my inventory. I had a friend look at the box after dragging an item to my inventory and he said it's not there
The only way for me to fix this is logging off and and logging on. I only get 5 to 25 minutes of game play before the desync happens. Sometimes I have to log off and relog on 2-5 times
Thanks for the extra context, I will forward that to our team but I would also recommend reporting that in #1493348541177794601 in case it is related with the game too. I think it might be worth the shot to explore it in both sides.

Today we have implemented Direct by IP connection which could hopefully fix your connectivity issues but it was a rushed hot fix from our side and server providers need time to implement this fuctionality on their side which could take time. I really hope that we could find a solution for you in the nearest future. very sorry about the inconvinience.

Desync is still happening. I got 25 minutes in before it happened. How do I know? I went to cook food and nothing happened but the materials were used.
At this point I think it's my cox hotspot, I am unable to do a hard-line with an Ethernet cable to truly test it. So I guess my friends will play on a server I pay for and I'll just enjoy the game offline
Tagging <@&1494048605265465539> to see if another switch is possible for people in this thread. After the patch today connectivity services could now be set up individually per dedicated server. Perhaps hosting a server in LA while havinng conectivity service attached to EU could solve this problem.
Or maybe Direct IP connection could help (bu i assume this could take more time)
The reason I have an EU was because I couldn't connect to a US server but I am willing to try absolutely anything at this point

So my Canadian friend tried to do "Host a Game" and I attempted to join. He didn't see my character but instead saw "Player Joined World", "Player left World"
My Australian friend attempted to connect and he loaded in with no issues.
Is he available now? can he try to create a host game with each connection service? EU_NA \ Sea and CIS and see if you can connect to any ot those three?

@warm lintel nope after 2 minutes of loading it booted me back to the main menu. This was the LA server that's activated under my account.
I was able to connect and stay in the server without problems. Regret to say the problem relies in the connection to the server.
I would recommend checking the https://playwindrose.com/faq/, in the part related to connections.
Ok so my Internet connection is somehow blocking me from connecting to a US server but not from an EU server?
And my Internet connection is also causing the desyncing issue?
My Australian friend hosted a game and I connected to him just fine. So is this a US server issue?
The next option would be moving the server to a different datacenter, Miami or New York
The test server that's in LA could we attempt to move that to either or?

I hope that your issue was resolved sir! If not please create a ticket on Nitrado website, since the post release rush with hot fixes is calming down, they are not transfering to their regular process of handling support tickets. I belive that after sunday's update there should be several options on how to solve your issues

i was able to connect via Miami so i guess the server issue withme was the location being in LA
