When I try to join my friend world via P2P we played yesterday, I get "an unexpected error" and cannot join. I tried all general fixes I can think of like verify, firewall, delete save files, restart pc, router, delete save files, disable steam cloud. Nothing helps. Bug?

Does it work if you try to join his game on a fresh world with fresh characters?
Can he connect to a game you're hosting?

my friend doesnt have an issue, so he didnt do any steps.
I tried fresh charcter to join his world, same issue.
When i try to host a game, i am returned to main menu after short loading.
I have no logs i think after I reinstalled the game. Maybe i can reproduce it.

There was a post in the https://discord.com/channels/1260209458924224542/1349723749858934834 channel about the connectivity issues being sometimes related to specific ISPs.
For now all we can do is suggesting to go through the https://playwindrose.com/faq/
It has the most common solutions that helped other players.

I'd suggest you looking through the faq first, because it contains a lot of solutions that we gathered during these 2 days, trying to fix similar problems.
FAQ section is created specifically so I don't have to copy paste every potential solution into every thread. But of course the decision is up to you.

Well, there is an instruction, how to check your ISP connection blocking in the FAQ.
We have reports of players fixing their connection to servers yesterday just to find out that their ISP has updated the blocklist today.

If its not the USP there are several other options in the list (not than many, unfortunately). If nothing helps - then yeah, it means I truly don't have a solution for you right now and we'll have to take more time to investigate your logs and logs of other players, to find out the root cause.

Yeah, then it is most likely one of the two:
- The ISP-related problem. They decided that our connectivity service server is malicious and now block your access to it.
- Ports related issue.
In case its ISP:
There are different ways of how to deal with it - they are listed in the FAQ right under the ISP testing instruction, steps 2 and 3. In short - you can try contacting your ISP and ask them to unblock our servers
(or you can try using VPN to avoid the block)
In case its port-related - Step 4.
There's also step 5 that covers solutions for a couple of ISPs that we know how to deal with. It will be expanded as we figure out more.

Lets not forget that I am not able to join a friends dedicated server on Nitrado. Thats not P2P anymore and nothing to do with port 3478 correct?
Also when i try to host the game myself, it does the laoding and then return me to main menu. That one could be related to same problem with ISP and port 3478.

Right now all the coop connections are handled by our connectivity services, so in all of these cases ISP and port problems can affect your connection.
If you're willing to wait - I can try to get more details (it will take time, sorry). But in the meantime you can try the solutions I listed earlier.

well I am gonna email my ISP and ask to open the ports and allow you on whitelist, but it could take weeks. Its huge moneygrabbing company that does not only internet bu TV and Mobile aswell and they probably wont care about some windrose.
Honestly this is outrageous. How can you release a game thats not only early access, which is sadly somehow standard nowdays, but even the connections are not ready for whitelist and being globaly blocked.
But ask full price from people, thats something you never forget. What if we put price in early access and give you 5 dollars each instead and if the game works and we like it after a month of stable playing, then maybe you deserve the rest of they money you asking.
Outrageous, ridiculous.
