I have the same issue, not running steam, used steamcmd to download the files and moved to my game server folder. Running windows server 2019 here
I am extreamly sorry... we didn't have a chance to study in details what isseus could come up with using steamcmd... nohting should break in theory, but you never know. We will try to get into it and see if we can see any issues.
Appreciate it!
Decided to check event viewer on my server. here is the log from the error

This is running on a poweredge R710 with Windows Server 2019 for more info
The DS tool seems to require AVX instruction set.
Also having this same exact error if anyone finds a work around
On which CPU ?
I'm on a Ryzen 7 4700X in my box
Running on a hypervizor ?
yeah, its a proxmox VM running windows
Yep! That was it! Agree with you that would be a good step to add because a lot of people host these on VMs
Do you think we will get it compiled to not need avx
In my case I'm running direct no VM here dual Xeon processors
Not sure about that avx instruction set with those
Just checked and yep my processors don't have that instruction set. Hopefully it can be compiled to not need that.
There's SDE emulator from Intel that I'll try after work that emulates that avx instruction set and report back for those with older CPU as temp solution
I tried last night at like 3am I had it running as a task but never came up but maybe you'll have luck
Just got home and was able to try, and looks like the same issue, I'm at least seeing the server in task manager but no config files are populating or anything else
it's still looking like it's loading though with ram usage increase so going to let it run for a little bit, I'm trying with the skylake flag in SDE to run it
Ok, I stand corrected, after letting it run and looking at the log, looks like it started. I see the json files, etc were created, going to see if I can reach it from my gaming system on the same network
Ok, did some testing, going to change setting and test again, but looks like server was up and online I was able to connect from my gaming sysem on the LAN, going to try again after dinner and test with my wife to see more players to see what impact using that SDE will due to latency, etc but looking like SDE does work to start the server on older CPUs
used sde.exe -skx --WindroseServer.exe with my directorys included
Ok, looks like I'm back to stuck at the infinate loading after getting through the tutorial section. We both got dropped after a while
Hello @raven quarry !
can you please share your log files from client and server? We will try to see if we can help
Please share your (1) game logs, (2) saves, and (3) DxDiag — they are essential for diagnosing and fixing bugs.
(1) HOW TO FIND LOGS
Game logs are located here:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\Logs
Server logs are located here:
R5\Builds\WindowsServer\R5\Saved\Logs
To get there, open Steam, find Windrose in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files. From there, archive the files in the Logs folder and share them with us.
Please name your logs in a way that describes the problem, for example: Crashedwhile_fighting_Dodo.log
(2) HOW TO FIND SAVES
Your saves are located here:
C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles
Please close the game before archiving your saves!
If you are playing on a dedicated server:
• Stop both the client and the dedicated server.
• Find and archive your server logs and world save.
Dedicated server logs are located here:
R5\Saved\Logs
Dedicated server saves are located here:
R5\Saved\SaveProfiles
To get there, open Steam, find Windrose Dedicated Server in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files (or go to the folder where your Windrose Dedicated Server is stored).
Please close the dedicated server before archiving your saves.
(3) Please also include your DxDiag report
This is your PC specifications in .txt format:
• Press Win + R.
• Type dxdiag and press Enter.
• When the tool opens, click Save All Information.
• Save the .txt file and attach it to your report.
(4) Any additional screenshots and/or videos are HIGHLY appreciated!
@slate crest once I'm home from work I'll get logs from client and server. Should I zip them and send in DM?
yes please
@slate crest DM sent with all logs and dxdiag both server and client sides
@slate crest let me know if there's any updates or further testing I can do to help. Once I'm done work I can help troubleshoot if needed.
@raven quarry can you please try to start a Host game, just from the game client, does this work for you?
@slate crest I'll give it a shot when I'm home from work. Do I need to have anyone else try to connect or just try hosting and joining from my client PC?
Forgot to add all systems are local lan. Both my system, my wife's and the self hosted server
I do have the server in DMZ for outside connections.
oh
We do indeed have some issues with local network connectivity for now. It's on our to fix list. Three things I've seen so far that helped other people are:
Disabling riot Vanguard (if you play riot games)
Setting up DMZ in router to establish connection (but you have already done that)
Connecting two devices with wired connection
I'll try what I can till a fix is found. Might be why I seen that error in the log about mismatched address. One being outside IP and other being lan IP
thatk you sir, very sorry for the inconvinience!!!
@slate crest I fired up a host session on my gaming system and was able to load right into the game. I'm thinking with having did the tutorial on the dedicated server before trying the host on client it skipped that but it worked. I might try to see if my wife can join on the LAN later this evening with the hosted game instead of using the server on the LAN and report back with if that works.
Good day sir, just giving a quick heads up. We have rleased an update today that now allows direct IP connection, this should help to solve the "same network" problem/ Unforutnately we do not have a guide avaialble yet, but if you have ever tried to do this for other games it should be pretty much the same.
If you would like to invite other players to your game you would also need to do some techincal router shenangians that woul allso other players to join you.
@slate crest Thanks for the heads up, just updated client and server, still seeing same issues with both invite code or even direct connect. I have I think all ports forwarded from all the many games I have played before.
Hi my server I'm running from Streamline servers and we are also experiencing every 5-10min crashes after the recent update.
@slate crest Just to give a little more info. Was able to host a game and my wife was able to join and we can play, but still just loading and drop to main menu trying to connect to server either via invite code or direct connect IP.
@slate crest Another update, was able to play with my system hosting with my wife for a few hours with no issues or lag. I'm hoping the fact my CPU don't have that instruction set is causing issues with the server trying to load correctly.
reach out to server provider and submit a ticket there about that, should not be happening
