#Dedicated Server connection problems

I wanted to start playing this amazing game of yours, with my 2 good friends. 1 from Sweden, the other from UK, and myself from Denmark. I as the host, hosted a dedicated server, because it seemed to be the best fit, since I am in between.

Me and my swedish friend can join and play without any problems, but the UK friend seems to have a connection issue. Whenever he joins he simply disconnects, at the same time he joins.

We had this instance in the Demo as well for hosted friend lobbies.

He has tried turning off IPv6, turning on UPnP and off. Went into his Router app to allow windrose.support domains. etc.

We'd love to get some answers and a fix, so we can start plundering! 🏴‍☠️ 🦜

BUG REPORTING GUIDE

Please share your (1) game logs, (2) saves, and (3) DxDiag — they are essential for diagnosing and fixing bugs.

(1) HOW TO FIND LOGS

Game logs are located here:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\Logs

Server logs are located here:

R5\Builds\WindowsServer\R5\Saved\Logs

To get there, open Steam, find Windrose in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files. From there, archive the files in the Logs folder and share them with us.

Please name your logs in a way that describes the problem, for example: Crashedwhile_fighting_Dodo.log

(2) HOW TO FIND SAVES

Your saves are located here:

C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\R5\Saved\SaveProfiles
Please close the game before archiving your saves!

If you are playing on a dedicated server:

• Stop both the client and the dedicated server.
• Find and archive your server logs and world save.

Dedicated server logs are located here:

R5\Saved\Logs

Dedicated server saves are located here:

R5\Saved\SaveProfiles

To get there, open Steam, find Windrose Dedicated Server in your library, right-click it, then go to Manage → Browse local files (or go to the folder where your Windrose Dedicated Server is stored).

Please close the dedicated server before archiving your saves.

(3) Please also include your DxDiag report

This is your PC specifications in .txt format:

• Press Win + R.
• Type dxdiag and press Enter.
• When the tool opens, click Save All Information.
• Save the .txt file and attach it to your report.

(4) Any additional screenshots and/or videos are HIGHLY appreciated!

That should be both the log and the save folder for the dedicated.

I was thinking, could CGNAT be the culprit of his issue? His ISP is Fibrus. Will he need a static IP address to be able to join?

Hello there!

Just a quick quesiton. Is it someone from your group hosting the server on his PC? or you are using a dedicated server?

I know it might be suboptimal right now... but since you tried all other worlarounds and nohting helped.

Can any other person from your group start the server, and the rest could try to connect to it?

He should've allowed the windrose domains on his Router app also.

Spoke to my ISP and they use public IPs not static ones and no domains are blocked. Is the only solution to get a static IP?

Everything in this thread is regarding my issue, I have also just tried joining a server hosted by another friend which just kicks me as soon as i join too, and also tried hosting a game myself, but it just instantly kicks anyone that joins

My friends and I are having the same issue

I'm the middle person, and I'm running the game on my laptop to lighten the burden on my PC while we play, they have no issues connecting to my laptop but my PC can't connect, it just disconnects and stays on load screen

I've tried troubleshooting for a day and a half with all FAQ and other forum and discussion recommendations

after hours of troubleshooting all reccomended solutions.

I GOT IT WORKING!!

so to recap all my friends could always connect to my laptop hosting the dedicated server, but my PC on the local network (wired) couldn't get past load screen. I finally decided after reading other Verizon users having simillar issues connecting within local network, decided to hardwire the connectiong for the laptop that was hosting the dedicated server. That seems to have fixed the issue for me, but it only worked after i restarted the laptop again and disabled wifi for it

Yeah... @winter prawn Doesn't sound like the same issue, whatsoever. Glad you figured out your issue though.
