There’s another one exe file in r5/binaries/win64

fluid tree
#

ill try that

#

Still the same error

Have similar issue here as well. Running Windows server 2019, tried updating directx, msv c++, etc trying either of the server exe just fails no error, don't even see it in task manager and can't find any logs

Still having this same issue. Any fix yet?

wild cypress

I found my processors don't support the avx instruction set. I need to test SDE Intel emulator for that to see if that changes anything with my testing. Won't be till later though after work

#

I had to check my event viewer to see the crashes and error log

fluid tree
#

Its a backend issue

#

Isp blocks access to the server

wild cypress
#

Ok, update on this thread also, my older xeon processors were part of the issue, SDE got the server to actually load, create all files and start working. Was able to adjust files and could see all changed info and password to join. Got through Tutorial with my wife playing on LAN also, after that we just sat at loading till dropped back to main menu

#

So SDE does work to get server running on older CPU but still have issue connecting to server.

#

any news?

wild cypress
#

I just sent all my logs to @digital knoll in another support ticket. Seems there's lots of issues with dedicated servers.

#

I can at least confirm SDE will allow the sever to run on hardware that don't have that instruction set.

#

I opened command prompt navigated to SDE folder

#

Then it's SDE.exe -sdx -- "put full directory to windrose.exe"

#

Make sure space between --and exe

#

Oh, you need to extract the file downloaded also

#

I just created a SDE folder on my server

livid elbow
#

Thank you! Will have another attempt tomorrow. I was struggling with the path directories, you've made it a lot clearer so thank you 😊

wild cypress
#

Anytime!

#

For reference it's SDE.exe - CPU type -- application

#

You can do SDE.exe -help for other CPU types

#

The Sandy lake worked for me

livid elbow
#

You are a legend, thanks again!

wild cypress
#

ugh, sorry it's -sdx for cpu type

#

-skx

#

wow, typo central lol

#

quotes are only needed if you have a space in a directory from what I can tell

livid elbow
#

Hehe thats fine, I will give it a go tomorrow. If I get stuck is it ok to ask for more help? If you don't mind of course 😀

wild cypress
#

That's no problem! Just switched over to my remote connection to my server. Here is my actual command from SDE dir in command prompt

#

sde.exe -skx -- "D:\game servers\windrose\WindroseServer.exe" -log

livid elbow
#

Oooh brilliant thank you for that, very much appreciated

wild cypress
#

@Drake Not sure it would impact server issues but my server runs with SDE to emulate that instruction set. Never had issues with other server I ran behind that. Figured I would let you know best info I can for troubleshooting

#

@livid elbow one thing of note. I did notice it might impact in game performance, IE slight lag, etc but nothing that made any game server unplayable

livid elbow
#

I was wondering that, hopefully it'll be stable. Is there any news of a fix incoming for people with older processors or are we stuck with this method? So long as I can play, I'm willing to try anything lol

wild cypress
#

That's my thinking. I think the other game server ended up adding support for older CPU and I didn't need to use it anymore

#

For reference here, R710 poweredge. dual 5620 xeon CPU and 64 GB ram

livid elbow
#

Ah nice! I'm using a dell t610 poweredge, can't recall the exact cpu but its 128gb ram iirc

subtle swallow
#

Is there a solution?

wild cypress
#

They are working on it, I sent my logs from server and my gaming system today when I got home from work

subtle swallow
#

so i should just wait for a patch ? or ?

wild cypress
#

Which issue are you having? This thread sadly turned into a few different issues

subtle swallow
#

can join my server or frends

wild cypress
#

Ah, yeah nothing on that issue as of yet, I know there's a patch tomorrow but not sure that will address it

#

We were just talking about older server CPU issues

subtle swallow
#

oh alr thx mate

subtle swallow
#

@wild cypress comes the update for today or for the 4.18

wild cypress
#

I think there's an update for tomorrow
