#Is there any guide to how mmr works

if you mean fucked like you lose more lp when you lose than the lp you gain when you win it just means the system thinks you're lower mmr than where you're currently placed
this might be because your lp was inflated from before the patch where they made demotions between divisions easier, or you're on a loss streak, or you're playing at off hours when there's less people on and the matchmaking happened to put you in games that you should have won, but didn't
best way to fix it is to just win your games, you can't lose more lp per loss than gain lp per win if you don't lose (and the system will adjust its measurement of your skill if you do win a lot)
or get comfy with the fact that you might not deserve your current lp (according to the system) (which isn't a reflection of your character or anything, just where the game has decided to put you vs your actual wins and losses according to how easy the system thinks the games it's giving you are)
I mean it's just a number that relates to your lp gains and players you face in relation to your rank. So if you have an mmr that is lower than your rank, then you will have negative gains.
Mmr is accelerated by streaks, so make sure you don't end in loss streaks but stay in win streaks
It took a lot of wins in a row to fix my MMR when it was in the dumpster. Once it's bad it's hard to fix. Win streaks are the key, and a duo partner is a ginormous help.
