@slender bane

#

So, starting off there are quite a lot of very easily distinguishable mistakes in your play that could be improved upon

#

I'm looking at your most recent Remnant log and there's quite a bit going on.

#

Have you read an updated guide on rotations and whatnot?

slender bane
#

I believe I did yes

bleak wharf
#

Just starting with the very basics, which is the opener

#

Opener is the easiest thing to fix and currently your opener is very, very lackluster

#

First of all, you need to get yourself a good set of weak auras

#

A weak aura package

#

Because just from this opener alone and looking at Buffs, I can see that you're not using a good weak aura package

#

And that's because you didn't use Slice n' Dice a single time during the encounter

#

Slice and Dice is our biggest and most important finisher in our kit. It gives us like 700+ dps (Not exactly sure on the number, I think @minor crag remembers. But it's something absurd like that) and you only have to press it once.** LOG IS BUSTED BECAUSE OF PRE-PULL SND, IGNORE**

slender bane
#

Snd was up

bleak wharf
#

Nope** LOG IS BUSTED BECAUSE OF PRE-PULL SND, IGNORE EVERYTHING**

slender bane
#

I assure you, I pre snd from the phalactories or wtvr they are called

bleak wharf
#

That simply is not the case here

#

You can even look at the replay to see your active buffs throughout the fight

#

Here's an example of my buffs

slender bane
#

I have TmW

bleak wharf
#

Here's yours

#

Completely missing SnD

#

What is TmW?

#

Tellmewhen

#

Right

#

So, that's bad

slender bane
#

Yea

bleak wharf
#

You need to set up a weak aura package

#

TmW is really outdated and not the best module out there anymore

#

It is really meant for super beginners

#

But if you want to improve yourself, you cannot use addons which tell you what buttons to press

#

You have to make that choice yourself

#

By using weak auras to track bleeds/buffs/cp/energy

slender bane
#

Oh I set TmW to track my dots and snd

bleak wharf
#

Well, it's apparently not doing much for SnD then

slender bane
#

When active, big popup

bleak wharf
#

Because you completely missed out on it

#

Actually no wait

slender bane
#

I will investigate, my guild have the recordings and I did the pre snd thing on remnant and on...

bleak wharf
#

I'm in the wrong here

#

You're correct

slender bane
#

Soulrender*

bleak wharf
#

The log is fucked up

#

Previously they had a similar issue with pre-pull SnD but they fixed it for 9.0.5 CN during the last few weeks

#

But I guess it's not working again

#

Oh well, alright

#

Ignore everything about SnD then, logs are funky

#

But let's get back to the opener

#

Even by using Slice and Dice pre-pull, you should be trying to maximize your Master Assassin windows by using 2 Mutilate's during it.

#

So instead of Muti - Gar - Rup, you should be using Muti - Rupture - Muti

#

I personally do Muti - Rup - Muti - Gar - Flag - Envenom - Shiv - Vend - Vanish - Muti - Env - Muti

#

But openers are quite minimal, but as I was looking at your Guardian log, it was quite flawed there as well

#

Always make sure to use Flag before a finisher and Shiv after that, followed by Vanish immediately.

slender bane
#

Okay, I'll try to fix That!

bleak wharf
#

Here's your Gar/Rup uptimes on the boss

#

(On Remnant)

#

You should be aiming to have close to 99% uptime on both

#

As you can see your garrote dropped 3 times and rupture twice.

#

Not sure why garrote can even drop so much because you can press it whenever, all you need is some energy

#

Are you aware of pandemic?

slender bane
#

Yes I am

bleak wharf
#

Okay great

slender bane
#

Around 5/6 sec for garr

bleak wharf
#

Just make sure to track Rup/Gar better to never allow them to drop

#

Especially this bit at the end

#

Is very, very painful

#

Because you don't get any energy

#

For comparison here's my rupture on Remnant

slender bane
#

So, fix the opener, be more careful about pandemics and not letting dots fall off

bleak wharf
#

Well, you don't have to be careful about pandemic

#

Just make sure to never allow your bleeds to drop, whatever it is that you have to do

#

It's of course a bit different for multi-target encounters, but it's usually pretty safe to have both rup/gar on your main target at all times

#

And only using Rup/Gar on secondary targets, as long as your main target still has both bleeds up

#

Dipping below 90% bleed uptime is pretty painful already and you should definitely work on that, it's our single most important thing in our kit

#

Without bleeds we don't get energy

#

Without energy we can't use generators

#

Without generators we don't get combo points

#

Without combo points we don't get finishers

#

And so on

slender bane
#

Question: should we dot balls on remnant?

bleak wharf
#

Yes, before they get hit by suffering

slender bane
#

What if they are far from me?

bleak wharf
#

Once they get hit, it' a bit too late as they will get insta-blasted

#

Don't bother if they're far away

#

Just stick to boss

#

It's very minimal

slender bane
#

Aight failed on that and that might explain some dot falling on boss

bleak wharf
#

Also, use your Shiv even more on cooldown. There's quite a few instances where you hold it for 4-5s and that eventually adds up

slender bane
#

Some times I hold shiv bcs I read that shiving into applying dots was bad

bleak wharf
#

Also, generally just hit Flagellation on cooldown. I like what you did here by syncing the second Flag/Vendetta, but if the fight was even 5 seconds longer, you would have missed out on an entire Flagellation

slender bane
#

Should I pull for flag? I'm getting like 25 stacks max per flag :/

bleak wharf
#

That's completely fine

#

We're not looking to get 30 ever

#

I don't think I've ever gotten 30 with EP/Vig and Dashing/Doomblade

#

Only pretty much happens on AoE encounters or with MfD

#

We don't really care too much about how many stacks we get

#

You just follow the normal pooling rules (pool on Envenom) and it should net you a decent chunk of energy for your Flag automatically

#

You just use it on cooldown, making sure to always follow it up with a finisher instantly

slender bane
#

Sounds like a plan for today

bleak wharf
#

Of course you have to be aware of what's happening around you

#

As we want close to full value out of our cd's

#

If you know the boss will go immune in 3 seconds, probably don't use Flag/Vend

#

Pretty much the case here, where you used Flag and then was stuck running around and using Feint

#

You can safely hold it for like 4s to get more value out of it

#

Instead of slamming it on cooldown and then having to idle for 5s because of mechanics

slender bane
#

Okay, i did waste some CDs there.

#

Even feint was not even needed

bleak wharf
#

Well, using Feint is completely fine

slender bane
#

(pvp mentality)

bleak wharf
#

But during your cooldowns you want to maximize throughput

#

And using Feint during Flag

#

And running around during Flag

#

Is not exactly ideal

#

You want to plan around so you know you have 12s of free time to just slam the boss

slender bane
#

I was not even hit by aoe, that's the worst part, I completely dodged it

bleak wharf
#

And not worry about having to press feint/run

#

You're also wasting some energy

#

It's not the worst, but it can definitely be improved upon

slender bane
#

That's a lot of muti/env...

bleak wharf
#

Should be aiming for around 5% or less energy waste on active fights

#

But yeah, that's also due to the nature of the fight

#

If you play it safe and go afk every time you do the bombs, it will result in some downtime and energy loss

#

But again, you need to think of it in advance and play accordingly

#

Instead of pooling, just slam all your energy down the drain before the Malevolence casts go through

slender bane
#

Got bombed 1 time, then always S.Step

bleak wharf
#

Ye

slender bane
#

(on second explosion)

bleak wharf
#

But yeah, due to the SnD thing being a log issue, there's nothing too too bad going on

#

All the basics look good otherwise

#

Sorry for blasting you about SnD, they definitely fixed it in CN so I just assumed that it was funky

slender bane
#

It's fine, dw, I can see how it can be seen as a huge negative if the log doesn't point it

bleak wharf
#

Of course your gear is not really great, so that will weigh on your parse by a lot

#

Rank 3 frost, 239 weapons and just 238 ilvl

#

Once you get r5 frost, a 252 weapon and just pump yourself to like 248 or something

#

Then you'll be solid

slender bane
#

The stats are somewhat okay tho! Been trying to optimize as I can

bleak wharf
#

You shouldn't really look at stats though honestly

#

I never look at stats

#

I just use whatever the robot tells me to use

#

If it one day says that mastery is better, I start slamming mastery

slender bane
#

I usually sim for each new piece I get

#

41% CRIT, 23% haste rn

bleak wharf
#

Too many people are stuck up on stats and minmaxing them, and it's not really worth it until you're literally 255 ilvl

#

Once you have every single 259 item, bis trinkets, r5 frost, bis legendary and so on, then it's fine to mess around with stats

#

But don't fret about them too much

#

In summary:

#
  1. Focus on your bleed uptime and maintain close to 98-99% uptime on both Rupture and Garrote
  2. Use Shiv more often, stalling it even for 3 seconds can eventually lead to a missed cast
  3. Use your cooldowns on cooldown, as long as you get to close to full value out of them
  4. Get some better gear, man.
#

Don't beat yourself up too much by parsing green/blue, because your comparing yourself to people that are close to bis gear and sim 3k more in single target.

#

You'll get there, but that'll take 15 more ilvl's.

slender bane
#

Question: doing painsmith and guardian and possibly fate tonight. Any quick tips for these bosses?

#

"get some gear" I should do more M15 😂

bleak wharf
#

On Painsmith you can just focus on the boss. The most important thing is staying alive. A dead dps does no dps.

#

Guardian is just a single target patchwork fight pretty much. Nothing special whatsoever.

#

On Fatescribe you can take Crimson Tempest to get some dps on the adds. Just make sure to do your part on the runes or you'll feel the wrath of your raid leader

slender bane
#

Thanks for your time Cev, appreciated!

bleak wharf
#

I've retired from WoW, so those will probably be outdated whenever 9.1.5 comes out, but should be good until then

#

Good luck out there!

slender bane
#

Thanks!
