So
BtE's cooldown resetting when you enter
Stealth and
Vanish is a long requested QoL to help alleviate the issue of BtE going on cooldown at the last GCD of Subterfuge. It should also fix the recent BtE phantom cooldown bug that's been plaguing many players. For the rotation, BtE itself will likely just be sent on cooldown, and it will have a higher priority than entering a new Vanish.
Losing
Shadowstep is maybe controversial. There were a few use cases for it that Grapple did not provide. Grapple is also famously bugged where it can snap, though it is uncommon in instanced zones.
Slice and Dice pretty much no longer has to be hard casted at all, so we can open directly with AR > BtE. You also won't have to think about it pulling mobs from Stealth with Fatebound anymore.
Precise Cuts buff is perhaps not enough to save it. The only talent our builds can remove for it is
Ghostly Strike, and that is very hard to justify.
Keep it Rolling cooldown reduction is unexpected. It's a ~2.5% gain to what is already our theoretical best build. Not sure of the thought process here, perhaps it is to help fight variance. If they're going to do this, maybe
Hidden Opportunity can be put back to 100% of SS's double strike chance as well.
Edit -> The cooldown reduction on KIR is likely to offset the loss of Echoing Reprimand.
The
Blade Flurry range increase means that the cleave range is boosted by ~1 yard or so to make up for what they meant to do on launch. The 'cast' range (the instant damage) is still the same.
Overall cool changes. For a 0.5 patch I kind of expected them to iterate upon the infamously controversial
Trickster tree, with its link to
Killing Spree and
Coup de Grace's quirky animation lock. We'll see.
