Q: Can I macro
Ghostly Strike to anything so I don't have to press it?
Yes, GS is just used on cooldown so you can macro it to everything (builders/finishers) and it's not a big deal.
You should still be able to press it manually if needed, such as for moments where you can quickly
Ghostly Strike >
Between the Eyes at 4 CPs in
Subterfuge.
Q: Should I be using
Roll the Bones during
Subterfuge windows? Doesn't that sound bad?
For builds without
Supercharger, there is not a specific rule against it though you can avoid it if able.
For
Supercharger builds it is normal and often expected to roll during
Subterfuge.
Q: Should I be using a dagger in my offhand?
A dagger offhand is mildly better than a slow weapon because it gives more Instant Poison procs. This is extremely minor though -- stats or item level are more important.
Q: Should I be pooling energy? What if I enter
Subterfuge with literally no energy?
It sounds counter-intuitive but no, Outlaw does not pool energy. Because of the
Fatal Flourish talent proccing from
Main Gauche, we gain more energy by actively pressing buttons as opposed to standing there idling.
Historically we have never been able to prove that pooling energy as Outlaw is worth it, even if you have very low energy and
Vanish is ready. Though it can also be hard to prove because it is so rare, it may not appear in enough iterations of simulated pulls to influence the average dps.
Q: What are some common mistakes that Outlaw players tend to make?
(For both builds)
- Remember that
Vanish is used to maintain
Adrenaline Rush. Having lower than ~90% AR uptime on a good run usually means there are rotation errors somewhere. Everything about cooldown, finisher, and builder usage affects the average cooldown on
Vanish.
- So you need to be aware that not using CDs when you immediately meet the rule to use them can snowball into you being unable to maintain
AR.

- Outlaw's GCD is 0.8 seconds during
AR if you have the proper haste. It is not always easy to keep up with this pace while making the right move. You have only 0.4s of leeway to fit 8 globals inside
Subterfuge windows. - Remember that
Killing Spree and
Coup de Grace have higher priority than
Vanish, unless you must
Vanish immediately for AR. - For
Trickster, if AR is active and ticking, remember that you try not to
Vanish if KS's cooldown is under 20s or so, and you try to align
Vanish, with shortly after the double
Coup de Grace. - For
Fatebound, if AR is active and ticking, remember that you try to only
Vanish if
Ruthless Precision is active or
Supercharger becomes active.
Blade Flurry radius is only 8 yards around you (not the target), so positioning has an impact in aoe.
(For
KIR builds)
- Watch combo point usage: finish at 6+ CPs normally but at 5+ CPs during
Subterfuge. - Watch RTB rules: make sure you are tracking when you can do the free roll after KIR.
- Watch builder priority:
Pistot Shot is only used if it will not overcap CPs, unless it has max stacks. That means with 2 points in Fan the Hammer, it is used at or below 3 CPs normally but at strictly 1 CP during
Broadside.
- There is also the optimization to priorize
SS when
Unseen Blade is guaranteed.
- There is also the optimization to priorize
(For
HO builds)
- Watch combo point usage: finish at 6+ CPs normally but at 5+ CPs if
Subterfuge,
Audacity, or
Opportunity is active. - Watch builder priority: generally
Ambush always has a higher priority than
Opportunity procs which always has a higher priority than
Sinister Strike.
Q: Can someone review my Outlaw logs?
Yes, type !log in the Outlaw channel and it opens a log review thread, and myself or others may see it.
Reviewing Outlaw logs is difficult on their own, a VOD is best used supplementary to see what decisions are made on a gcd basis.
Please consider it is a voluntary effort to review logs and some will get missed.
Q: When can I break my old 4pc for new tier?
Fatebound will quickly break the old 4pc for new 2pc, as its 2pc is very strong.
Trickster will probably wait until the full 4pc, though you can sim.
Remember that as soon as you break old tier you will have to use
Loaded Dice.
