Raid Recommended Build

ambush HO fatebound Fatebound - Wowhead
-# CQQAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMwMzYGDmZGmhxYGzMjZmplZMLzAAAAAAgttZmBzMjlxMLz2AAAAwMDwAbwMGNmNAbTYxMA

  • ks Killing Spree may be slightly better in theory if you don't have Skyfury.

M+/Heavy AoE Recommended Builds

kir_rc KIR fatebound Fatebound - Wowhead

Much like late Dragonflight, KIR is similar ST and a bit better in AoE at the cost of being more difficult, less consistent, and more punishing with downtime.

Where is trickster Trickster?

  • In low target counts, Trickster is tuned a bit far behind Fatebound.
  • In AoE, it should be closer, but it is required to use ks Killing Spree -- which can easily get you killed -- and the capstone coupdegrace Coup de Grace is rather bugged, it is possibly a DPS loss or very minimal gain.
  • While the Fatebound capstone is annoying to maintain, it is not actively disruptive compared to Trickster. Fatebound also gets bonus SS proc chance and CPs, which does improve gameplay smoothness a bit.
  • Sample Trickster build (AoE)

What's wrong with coupdegrace Coup de Grace?

  • Triggering it puts you in a 1.2s animation lock which is not a big deal but it does end up costing you globals and preventing you from using off-gcd spells like Kick. You can't spell queue during it either.
  • It does not benefit from Restless Blades or Ruthlessness any more than a regular Dispatch.
  • If you are out of melee range, it dashes you to your target. With our lower melee range this can catch you off-guard and possibly mess up your positioning.
  • As of August 13th it appears to never get consumed, subsequent Dispatches will trigger it over and over.

Is kir_rc KIR viable?

  • Yes, the recent tunings have boosted KIR significantly. However it has a very large haste requirement compared to HO so it may not be reasonable early into the tier.

Stat priority?

  • Vers > Haste >= Crit >>> Mastery is the general priority. HO builds will likely optimize towards 10% haste, and KIR builds up to 20%.

Rotation compared to Dragonflight

  • See the prepatch summary for general changes.
  • Keep any 1 buffs from rtb Roll the Bones, however immediately roll it into 2 buffs when loaded_dice Loaded Dice is active.
  • Use kir KIR when you have at least 4 buffs. If Broadside is not active, then wait until your lowest buff is about to expire before pressing KIR, just in case you get a Broadside from CTO. This is known as "CTO fishing".

We are testing a new finisher rule for ambush HO builds, which is:

  • Finish at 6+ CP normally, but at 5 CP if you are in subterfuge Subterfuge, or ambush Audacity is active, or ps Opportunity is active.
  • This is true for both hero trees, Fatebound's coin flips and Trickster's Flawless Form both help enable earlier finishers.

Note that talent string imports can break at any time so you may have to build the trees yourself from the wowhead link

We are testing two new default rules for RTB and KIR:

rtb Roll the Bones: Keep any 1 buff, but immediately roll it into 2 buffs when loaded_dice Loaded Dice is active.

kir Keep it Rolling: Use KIR when you have any 4 buffs. If you still don't have rtb_bs Broadside, then wait until the last second of your lowest duration buff before using it, in an attempt to fish it from cto Count the Odds.

Note that lots of different kir KIR rules have little impact on sim dps so you are honestly free to feelycraft with it. If you want to use it at a super good 3 buff like Broadside+True Bearing+Ruthless Precision, you can. There is not going to be an expected dps loss. Just don't try to force a KIR at 2 buffs or wait until 5 buffs.
