Posting here after advice in the outlaw group. 475 ilvl and only 140k dps on a relatively clean AD21. LOG: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/BCzk43xwacAjGRvh#fight=11&type=dispels. Video of the run: https://youtu.be/swuCpcYDYik?si=lg9WVtMkS3Y4r9V3. I know I'm probably don't 20 things wrong, any feedback is welcome.
Probably doing everything wrong. Need to learn how to press buttons
(for clarity. I'm Galrath, the sub rogue is a buddy)
Well, watching the vod you sat on dance for an eternity in your opener
which made your vanish refresh very slowly
Then you danced on shades
Also looks like you sometimes struggle a bit with deciding what skill to use in a gcd
Leading to sizable gaps
Apm is generally on the low side for outlaw
TBH I think updating your UI will probably help? Maybe you're used to that setup, but it seems very hard to read to me
I'm not married to it. Haven't played much outlaw this season yet.
And thanks for having a look already!
Positioning is a big thing too
Blade Flurry is a circle around you
and you're often positioned as if it's a frontal cone
As in my apm is on the low side? Or the apm for the spec is low?
Outlaw APM is very fast paced, but you are thinking a lot about some globals
Spec apm is very high
Yeah that's what I thought ๐
We have 0.8 sec gcd with ar up
And with proper play it is basically always up
Not keeping up with the tempo means less cdr, less cdr means fewer crackshot windows
The key for this spec right now is getting as many crackshot windows as possible while maximizing the number of btes you churn out in those windows
But ya def start with the UI I think. You have too much stuff and seem to ignore even what you do have sometimes. There are dozens of WA packs that do a great job of tracking everything
Play around with some of them on the dummies and see what feels good for you
Ok going to do that, thank you
In the log I can see examples of vanish into ps or another builder
Build to 6+ cp then vanish into bte
Same for dance
Other than that we never hold those cds except maybe at end of a pack
There are a lot of points where you sit on Vanish and/or Dance for long periods for no clear reason, so I feel like that is one result of your cluttered UI
I didn't even realize this. Shocking to watch that back
As soon as vanish comes off cd, next time you are at 6+ cp you just hit it
Better to start by using it insta imo
Later you can learn to hold at end of a pack maybe.
Yeah I think that focus on that will already be a huge difference
I'd say Nix the GS WA entirely for now. Just macro it into SS until you get comfortable with the spec. You should mostly just send it on CD anyway.
Also think you are not using bf with deft enough
His UI doesnt track the BF CD, so probably doesnt have a clear way to be using it as a CP builder
Possibly get a wa or plater mod that shows gs on nameplates clearly
So you don't switch off that target by accident
I have a bf cd tracker but it's super small
Especially important if you macro gs
Oh, maybe I missed it entirely then
It is like 2-2.5% loss
Gsw build is barely used
Macroing it and occasionally swapping targets is a smaller loss
Not the easiest spec, but fun!
Do you have 4 piece or no?
Ok I see you with only 2 RTB buffs most of the time
I'm relying on this rtb weakaura
The WA is likely out of date
It should be
With 4 piece the rule now is basically just always have 3 buffs
We only really roll when buffs are about to expire
Or just before crackshot window if they would run out during the window
Hm
Only other time we reroll is if you for some reason had to roll without loaded dice and only got 2 buffs
Then you would reroll once you get loaded dice
Oh, another big one
You're often opening from stealth with ambush while you dont already have blade flurry up
open with flurry
Bf is a very nice global in aoe with deft talent, even with buff already up
It's your highest priority builder at 5 or more targets
Yeah I'm going to track that more effectively
Very low energy cost and lots of cp
Basically just always open from stealth with blade flurry, is a good rule of thumb.
Ui overhaul is step 1
not always correct, but it usually is
Think you have enough to work on for now
Too much at once is hard to absorb
Yaa, give this stuff a go and if you still want more advice come back in a few days
Good luck and feel free to come back with a new log when you feel like you've worked on this stuff
One qq: how much dps do you think I should do on 5 dummies?
Just so I know if I'm getting it right
You can sim that
Patchwerk 5 targets
If I sim it says 520k
No buffs then though I guess
Oh right, dummies have lower armor right?
Patchwerk will enable all raidbuffs
I mean, you can turn them off
Sim 5 target dummies then hit dummies until you can match that number roughly
You can turn them off but that's what the target dummy sim does for you
Non bosses have lower armor/mitigations as well. 5 target PW should always sim lower than the same sim on Dummies, unless theyve changed how that works over the years
Good luck!
One quick follow-up question in case you're still monitoring this: im close to hitting target dummy dps consistently now, so that's a good improvement. With that says, the dungeon slice dps is REALLY high
Is that something that I should strive for as well?
Not really
Can't really compare dslice to an actual key
Target dummy sim you can try to strive for absolutely
Ok, thank you! So what would be good to strive for in a dungeon? Probably dungeon specific, but any way I can benchmark on a number?
it depends on too many variables
how the tank pulls etc
maybe if you have a really clean run, you can log it and upload to wcl and check the damage done key% column
now that augs exists though it is even harder
Yeah that's the messed up thing
I see these rogues pumping 230k overall
But it's always with aug, at least on YouTube
Do you have any streamers you'd recommend watching?
Llmch usually puts up some runs on youtube as well
So - somehow I am still inconsistent on the dummies. Downloaded a GCD tracker and recorded this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hk8XYmm1DPI
Very curious what's going wrong
My understanding is also that I should be able to keep Adrenalin rush up... but somehow I can't towards the end
Usually not 100% uptime on AR
Hmm. Do you have 4pc?
First roll you had two buffs, but after second roll you still had only two
Must have done a roll without loaded dice there?
Yeah I do have 4p
How do I proc loaded dice?
Should I roll first and then AR?
In the prepull?
I've been noticing this as well.. I thought I should always get 3 buffs if I roll on 2 buffs
Is that the case?
Yes. Roll first then ar so that your second roll can utilize 4pc
Then you are guaranteed 3 buffs on the second roll and then you just keep that going
You only roll away 2 buffs if you have loaded dice buff up
Ok so in this clip the prepull was the problem
If you roll with 2 buffs without loaded dice you keep one of the old buffs, but if you roll a single buff (pretty likely) you still only have 2
The prepull AND second roll was without loaded dice
You did prepull with loaded dice for 2 buffs, then rolled again long before buffs were running out but without loaded dice
If you mess up prepull like that you should wait to reroll until you have loaded dice again or buffs are running out (last 2 or so sec)
Easier to keep AR uptime if you have more buffs so maybe that's the reason
Hard to see anything else without a log. Gcd tracker is tricky to follow imo
let me do another 5 min thing and i'll log it
log doesn' show the fight =/
QQ what kind of input lag is recommended?
Spell queue window I believe it's called
Going with 100
100 is too low imo
Only reason to lower it is if you feel you have issues where the wrong abilities go off in a gcd
If you hammer a lot that might happen
But otherwise you use the queue window to make sure there's as little gap as possible between the gcds
Ok, what would you recommend setting it at?
It's a bit individual, but if you are not having issues with "wrong gcds" going off, then leave it at 400. If you do see issues maybe lower by increments of 50 until you don't have issues. But I don't think you should go lower than 150
Starting to see progress! The Rolling behavior, ui change and including blade flurry as builder makes a big difference
https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/X7JAz1KDdbTcC4HR#fight=last&type=auras almost 80% AR uptime now
Messed up a few pulls - but this is quite a bit better I think
looked a little bit at this log and it does indeed look better, but there is still room for improvement I think
BTE cpm is often something above 15 in good logs and here it is 11.7
Casts per min?
I wonder if that's driven by the #of casts in each window or by the # of windows Im able to land
yes casts per min
can look more in detail later maybe
but it's getting to the level where its hard to figure out
can be overall cpm being lowish too
uptime on mobs matters, positioning well for bf matters a lot too
fall has a lot of natural downtime though, not the best dungeon for comparisons
better to look at some all action one with no downtime maybe, like EB or BRH
Ok, I'll have a scan through those next time I complete a decent run
Guys - I think I've come a long way now: @cursive karma curious to hear what you think if you have time. Pretty proud of this run, had a few nice saves with step interrupt on second boss etc. Curious what you think and where I can still improve https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/QmKpWA1vnNtw4LgD#fight=last
I'll take a look
I think you are using ss a lot when you have opportunity available
Not fixable with macro, but maybe a wa
But basically you only want to press ss as a last resort with HO build
Since pistol shot can proc audacity and then ambush can proc opportunity
No, not even then
I think all the streamers I've been watching played KIR
Yeah. Kir is much more conservative with pistol shot
So basically unless I have 0 procs
No ambush / opportunity
At 5 CP
I don't use Sinister strike
A bit unfortunate phrasing with the double negative, lemme try again
I only use SS when I'm at 5 combo points and have no audacity or opportunity procs?
Or do I just send Dispatch then?
You can use it at any cp if you have nothing else and don't have enough cp to finish
Got it. That's helpful. Did you see any other things that stand out?
Not yet, will look a bit more
Seeing some pistol shots without opportunity buff as well
Those are very costly
Cost double energy and you only get 1 cp and do very little damage
You also have some finishes at too low cp
Like 4cp, even 3 at times
Got it
Probably just misplays, not misunderstanding the rotation
But worth working on
Maybe with better WAs
I'll keep plugging away, thanks for the advice!
