Idk if dota has gotten worse. But a lot of players that werent good enough ”back in the days” have since then made it and won TIs etc

might be a hot take, but i think dota is being played at such a high level these days, that RNG plays a bigger factor

or where even just one misplay can snowball the entire game into a loss, if the other team doesnt fuck up anymore past that point

it's also plly tied to the way the map is shaped as well, ultimately highlighting a way to play the game

or new skills that needed to be developed

ye i felt that way about a lot of the TI games, where one lost teamfight (often lost due to one ability being used badly) is just putting a team on the backfoot with no chance to recover unless the other team makes big mistakes too

one blink cancel before an epi or RP, you lose the teamfight instead of wiping them, 5k networth disadvantage from that, and 20min later you call GG because you never get back into the game due to the map control loss, vision loss etc.

one missed pull in lane or bad trade, and youre behind the next 5mins in lane, your carry has 1k networth less minute 10, maybe gets ganked once, and their game is over for 20+ minutes

its not really RNG, but the room for error is so small these days, it feels like 1 misplay can lose a 50minute game, that sorta thing. obviously its not that simple, but a lot of lategame issues you can still explain with something that happened 30min earlier

bad rune RNG into your mid or pos3 dying into getting your ancient stack stolen into your carry being 20% networth behind the other guy all game
